Today I have some quick and dirty photos of the first (and utterly successful) test print of the newest fighter to the Military Spacecraft Series; The TE-65A Sharurä A.I. gunship. The only hiccup is I can see I'll need to beef up some supports on the rear fuselage (there was a slight dip in the print but no failure). The name is a mutated naming convention based off of Sumerian mythological weapon of Sharur. A sentient talking weapon (Sharur) fits an A.I. fighter and my sense of this thing is it's an aggressive and brutishly nasty bit of a self aware weapons platform.
This is probably the most detailed fighter (as to surface greeble details) so far and, I'm happy to see it printed all of that detail beautifully, and those details should be even more clear once I paint it (which I plan to start today so following photos will be much better). I haven't decided when this one is going to release but it's, for sure, going to be sooner than later (have to make the art and all). Depending on the growth of the Patreon, and my free time beyond freelance, the release schedule in the future may increase to more fighters/releases per month. I've kept it one, per month for now, simply to ensure it wasn't overwhelming dealing with all of the behind the scenes stuff getting it all off the ground in the first place. The more this community grows, the more I can focus on making cool stuff for everyone.
New "fractal" Zbrush fighter model:
Additionally I have a peek at some WIP renders of, yet another new fighter. This one, as yet, is un-named so the file name is simply fractal. Initially I started with the notion this was to be an alien (enemy fighter of the TE series) but when I added the cockpit it felt like more of a futurist hot rodded up stealth looking fighter delio made by humans. I still plan to do a bit more work on it, before it's done, but the essential vibe is there; aggressive, angular, louvered, and advanced looking gestalt of flying machine. Once the model is done, this one will be getting a print test as well (can't wait to see how it fares with a painted model). The origin of this fighter I'll likely sort out, once the model is done, so alien, human, whatever is up in the air... for now.
I've had quite a few questions about the lore for these fighters. I've been so busy with making them and subsequently launching this endeavor that I hadn't had a moment to really consider what all of this might end up being. I'm starting to do so now. I have some ideas of what I might do so hang in there, there's going to be more about these fictional fighters and more about their setting and history... and likely more related content for all of you in response to that.
All of this is important, because there definitely will be some form of enemy forces added to the fighter series released so far and more about the setting it all exists in. Of course, none of this would negate any fictions for these fighters that any of you decide to envision on your own, once you print them they're yours to imagine as you wish. I want you all to enjoy them and let your imaginations run wild (this includes how you wish to paint them as well). That said, my own imagination tends to run wild 24/7 coming up with all of this stuff so there will be more about the fighters in the future.
For the time being though, we have some peeks at future designs and prints. There will be more to come!
Thanks for looking and have a great week!
