Lena awoke the next morning wrapped in a pile of sweaty sheets with a sticky face and a nose clogged from crying. Her head pounded as she lifted it from the pillow and blindly grabbed for her phone in a move that sent two empty bottles of wine clattering to the floor. She cringed at the noise they made and the way it ricocheted inside her skull like punishment for getting so inebriated.

There were no new voicemails or messages from Kara, but there were several drunken texts that she couldn’t remember composing the night before.

Please pick up, Kara. You know you’re my alpha, I just don’t want everyone else to know that.

I’m not good with PDA. If you’d let me explain, I promise I’ll make it all better.

I panicked, okay? I love being with you, but it’s none of their business, don’t you get that?

I need you, okay? I didn’t want to, but I do and now everything feels wrong because you’re not here.
Think of Doris, Kara, she won’t understand.

You’re not like other alphas, and I never meant to fall in love with you, but now I have all of these feelings. You can’t just ignore me.

I know today was awful for you, but if you call me, I’ll make it worth your while.

I’ll let you do whatever you want, and you don’t even have to talk to me, just come over.

Lena regretted drinking all of the wine and her foolishly honest texts that were nowhere near apologetic enough to prompt Kara into reacting.

On further inspection of the texts, she realized with a mixture of horrified disgust that she hadn’t sent the last two to Kara. In her intoxicated melancholy, she had sent one to Jack and the other to James, and no matter how terrible her hangover was, this felt worse.

The mortification of sending a few to the wrong numbers was roiling the contents of her stomach, and Lena lurched out of bed with the fear of throwing up.

She already dreaded going into the office after the harsh way she had spoken to Kara in front of their entire team, but how the hell was she going to look her boss in the eyes after sending him the message meant for Kara?

To complicate matters, Jack hadn’t responded, but James had, going so far as to send his own address when Lena failed to disclose hers.

Lena fought back another bout of nausea and showered in a rush to cleanse herself of the shame and guilt that clung to her skin. She threw on one of her more revealing outfits while formulating a plan to get Kara back and then masked her haggard appearance with make-up.

Before leaving for work, she fed Doris and kissed the top of her small fluffy head while praying the universe would grant her some luck to reverse the damage she had done. Though it was a long shot, Lena hoped she would get to speak with Kara before their day began.

Her expectations were dashed by a series of catastrophic events that prevented her from getting to the office on time. The first was a broken heel, and the second was a taxi driver who took her the wrong direction after she had picked up an ice cream cake for Kara. The last was the alarming rate at which the cake melted and subsequently dripped all over her skirt.

The gloopy stains looked suspiciously like something else, and when Lena ran into the building with what remained of her dwindling cake, a security guard insisted that she drop the soggy box into the garbage before she caused an accident.

With nothing to show for her tardiness except her harassed appearance, Lena balked at getting off on her floor and tried to compensate by exuding a frosty attitude to ward off anyone who was thinking of approaching her.

It worked until the second she reached her desk and noticed that Kara’s was devoid of her personal belongings. The small cactus and framed photo of Doris now resided next to Andrea’s desk and the harlot looked smugger than ever.

Kara’s absence and relocation distressed Lena’s omega so much that she choked on her anguish as Andrea sauntered over with a sly smirk.

“Only you would find it appropriate to show up late to work after an orgy,” Andrea loudly remarked, her gaze flicking down Lena’s cream covered skirt with mirth.

The quip wouldn’t have bothered Lena if several of the alphas weren’t eavesdropping nearby.

Benjamin appeared to be the most interested, and the scent of his eager pheromones threatened to make her gag.

“Fuck off, Andrea, I’m not in the mood,” Lena hissed with the idea of heading to the bathroom to clean herself off.

“Ooh, someone’s upset,” Andrea shot back, her snide smile grating on Lena’s nerves. The omega trailed after her to gloat under her breath, “You smell pathetic, Lena. I bet your regret will fill this office for months to come while Kara fills m—”

A murderous rage came over Lena and she stepped into Andrea’s personal space to grit out, “Move, or I’ll throw you through the nearest window, and your over-inflated ego won’t save you from the fall.”

She considered uttering more threats, except Andrea’s victimized scent gave her pause, and then she followed the omega’s curious stare to where Kara was standing.

Multiple colleagues must have overheard her side of the conversation, because they were all peering in her direction with identical expressions of disapproval on their faces. Kara glared at her for a few seconds before exiting the room.

Lena shrank from the attention with a quiet whimper and tried to hurry after Kara.

They rounded a corner to enter the hall and Lena did all that she could to stall Kara’s fast retreat.

“Please wait!” Lena called out and reached for the alpha’s arm with the plan to beg if necessary. “I phoned and texted you, but you didn’t answer. I just want to explain myself.”

“There’s not much to explain,” Kara rejoined with a brooding jut of her chin and a leery squint. “I thought you were my mate. I might not understand all of your Earth customs, Lena, but
rejection is pretty universal. It turns out I had the wrong impression of you this whole time.”

“No, that’s not true,” Lena insisted, her lip quivering when Kara pulled her arm free of her grasp. “You know me. You’re maybe the only one who really does. If you’d just listen—”

“Why? We’re not dating. Last night you made that perfectly clear in front of everyone,” Kara exhaled forcefully, the awful stench of her anger repelling Lena like a toxic mist.

Lena faltered at that and took in the harsh line of Kara’s mouth that fell at one corner with sadness she couldn’t quite contain.

“I’m sorry that I hurt you, but do you have any idea what it’s like for an omega on Earth?” Lena asked. “We aren’t respected here. It’s not like it is on Krypton, Kara.”

“Is that your excuse for lying to me this whole time?” Kara petulantly asked and kept her distance as she eyed Lena.

Lena raised her chin with arrogance in spite of the way her heart was breaking. “What we shared was real, Kara. If you truly think I would fake all of that, then I guess you’re just like every other alpha.”

Kara put her hands on her hips like she was going to dispute that, but instead she shut her mouth and stalked off.

The abrupt exit was worse than outright anger. Lena hung back and opened the door to a vacant lab where she could avoid her colleagues and deal with her wounds in private.

Other than checking her emails on her phone while crying in silence, she did little in the way of productive work. She curled up in a chair with her legs tucked and stared through the window for two hours. Just as she was thinking about skipping lunch, her boss interrupted her heartbroken wallowing.

“Lena, I’ve been looking all over for you,” Jack chided and sat down on the stool opposite her with more professionalism than he often displayed. “I was hoping to speak with you in my office, but this is as good a place as any.”

“Come to tell me you’ve assigned me a new lab partner?” Lena miserably huffed, her red rimmed eyes still stinging after her encounter with Kara. She squinted at Jack when he didn’t crack a smile or immediately stumble into an explanation, and then drew herself up to stare at him. “If this is about the text—”

“It is,” Jack cut in, smoothing his hands across the table like he had rehearsed shuffling papers to keep his composure. “Lena, I’m concerned that we might need to involve HR, because that kind of thing isn’t very appropriate here—”

“Oh, now you want to talk about what’s appropriate?” Lena snapped, condensing all of her hurt feelings and vulnerability into a fiery ball of anger that she directed to Jack. “How are you going to explain that you conducted an entire meeting with an investor while your hand was on my ass?”

“Well, that was just, um, good business,” Jack lamely excused, tugging at the collar of his shirt as he tried to avoid Lena’s scrutiny. “I mean, he thought we were together. I didn’t see the harm.”

“Yeah, because you kept hanging over me,” Lena sighed, her outrage not nearly extreme enough for being used as a prop, despite her brain being the asset they needed to show off.

“Got us the money though,” Jack pointed out tactfully, and Lena frowned at the memory of how ecstatic the whole team had been. It had been their first investor, which meant they could finally start producing the tech they wanted and get paid for it.

“Look, the text I sent last night wasn’t meant for you. I was drunk and it won’t happen again,” Lena muttered, refusing to actually apologize due to her own mortification over sending it in the first place. The fact that Jack had gotten a glimpse at how pathetic she had been in that moment would haunt her for months.

“I suspected,” Jack relented, his smile bittersweet and half concealed by his mustache. “Don’t get me wrong, I’d have called you in a heartbeat if I thought you’d meant it.”

“So, when I don’t, it’s grounds for HR?” Lena needled with a hostile tone, the sharp line of her jaw emphasizing how much that hurt her.

Jack at least had the good sense to look ashamed of himself, and he blushed in spite of the confident aura he tried to project. “I may have allowed envy to cloud my judgment in this instance.” He hung his head after the confession and puffed out his cheeks with a slow exhale.

Lena observed his resigned posture for all of three seconds before shoving him sideways in the seat and knocking him off balance. “You’re ridiculous, you know that, right? Sitting here feeling sorry for yourself.”

“Like you’re any better?” Jack blurted, waving his hand around at the vacant counters where their current projects ought to have been lined up. “What are you doing in here anyway? You’ve never been the type to hide from anything.”

Lena shied away from Jack’s intense eyes and pursed her lips in consternation. “First of all, mind your own business, and second, it’s complicated.”

She didn’t elaborate out of a fear of sounding every bit as sensitive as she was, though judging from Jack’s gentle and comforting pheromones, he evidently already knew that.

“I am minding my business. Your productivity is atrocious right now,” Jack teased, the jovial grin he often wore returning to his face.

Lena returned a smaller, semi-sarcastic one that tapered off to something soft and sincere, and for a long moment they just sat in silence.

Jack broke it with a not-so-subtle clearing of his throat, and clasped his hands in front of him diplomatically as he uttered, “I know you think I’m this great boss—”

“I absolutely do not,” Lena stated vehemently to put an end to his speech.

She did think that the majority of the time. When he wasn’t tripping over himself to stare at her
tits, Jack was a pretty incredible person. Not that he ever needed to find out, because Lena would take that to her grave.

“Shut up and let me have this,” Jack whined, sitting up straighter in that arrogant alpha way to appear calm and collected. He let his pheromones waft into the air to command respect, and then continued, “What I’m trying to say is that I hope by now you’ve realized I’m also your friend. I admit I might have gotten carried away by prying into your intimate life—”

You think?” Lena griped, her nostrils flaring at the way he tried to downplay his involvement, and how he had been up her ass the second he thought she was seeing anyone.

“Are you going to let me apologize, or do you want to interrupt some more?” Jack grumbled, fixing her with a haughty stare until she rolled her eyes and motioned for him to carry on.

“I’m sorry if I ever made you uncomfortable, or made your work life harder because of my behavior,” Jack expressed, and his sincerity leaked through his scent along with hints of attraction. He was flustered from the betrayal of his pheromones, and Lena let him off the hook with a gentle nudge to prompt him to get on with it.

“In all honesty, I just think you’re brilliant, Lena,” Jack sighed. “That’s why I need you to do me a favor.”

His gaze dropped away and Lena squinted at the nervous way he straightened his tie and wiped down his shirt. When he spoke, it was with such speed he sounded breathless, “Patch up your feud with Kara, because Cat Grant is on her way. We’ve been asked to give demonstration in front of her and a few new investors she’s bringing along.

Lena shot out of her chair so fast that Jack practically flung himself over the counter to get out of her vengeful reach. “You asshole,” she seethed, clenching her teeth along with her hands in frustration.

“It’s not my fault!” Jack yelled, walking backwards to keep Lena at arms’ length lest she actually throttle him. “Miss Grant called me this morning and I’ve been trying to get ahold of you for hours so you could mentally prepare yourself.”

“Oh, you could say I am plenty prepared for public humiliation,” Lena huffed with a sullen pout. “Last night was a good warm up.”

She contemplated quitting her job and walking out, but the problem was that everyone else at Spherical Industries might lose theirs if she failed to impress the investors.

Cat Grant’s spur of the moment intrusion seemed intentional, and Lena expected that she would have to provide a strong proof of concept and marketability of their products, or otherwise risk a future loss of funds.

“Does that mean you’ll do it?” Jack queried with a stroke of his facial hair.

“Work with Kara?” Lena asked and shrugged flippantly, because she knew she had no choice in the matter. “It’s going to be an interesting presentation when your two lead engineers on the project aren’t on speaking terms. I already tried apologizing to her earlier.”

“Try again. Maybe track her down and get some lunch,” Jack insisted with a glance at his watch to check the time. “Put it on the company card.”

Lena took the credit card from him and hung back with uncertainty about whether or not she wanted to follow through. Jack came in as if to give her hug, but they only ended up hovering awkwardly, each of them hesitant to dole out affection.

Jack resolved it by patting her on the shoulder and disappearing, and Lena headed out to the main office floor with the hope of catching Kara.

No one was around, and that meant that Kara either decided to go out for lunch, or she was already in the cafeteria.

Lena hedged her bets and tucked the business card into her wallet for safekeeping, then wandered down to the cafeteria.

Most of her colleagues were already seated with their food, and to Lena’s chagrin, Kara was at a table with Andrea and the rest of the people on their team. One vacant spot remained and Lena rushed onto the line to purchase her lunch so she could seize the open place next to Kara and James.

She blindly grabbed items, which was how she ended up with milk, an apple, banana, and a serving of pasta with heaps of sauce that she wasn’t even in the mood to eat.

With her bounty in hand, she hurried over to the table to take her spot, and just as she was about to pull out the chair, James put his heavy hand on it and blocked her. “This seat is taken.”

Lena froze and glanced around at her colleagues, all of them glaring at her as if she had been the subject of conversation before her arrival.

“I don’t see anyone’s stuff reserving this spot,” Lena disputed and stood rigidly over the chair with the hope that Kara would drop the fight between them and advocate for her before she was humiliated again in front of everyone.

“Winn,” James called out, pointing at the beta and then down at the chair.

Winn happened to be on the line, and he turned around to stand with his mouth open in amazement that he had been picked for the spot. He hesitated to take it from Lena, but he was rarely chosen to hang out with the team, so she backed off to let him enjoy the moment.

Lena raced off to a table in the corner where no one else was seated. From afar, she noticed a troubled expression on Kara’s face, the anger and resolve that was mixed with pity.

The rest of their colleagues continued to talk about her and their voices carried.

“I got your back, Danvers,” James bragged and clapped Kara on the arm, like he hadn’t replied to Lena’s texts the night before.

Lena had to wonder if he was excluding her now out of spite, or because he genuinely cared about how she had treated Kara.

Kara stood up to refill her tray and Lena overhead Benjamin’s loud laugh. “I bet you twenty bucks that Luthor will put out for me next.”

Lena considered hurling an apple at his head, but she was too distracted watching Kara to care that her colleagues were ostracizing while also competing over her.

Being left out reminded Lena of a time in high school before she had presented when she was forced to sit at the table with the rest of the rejects. She was the last of the class to reach maturity, and when it finally happened, all of the alphas at her school changed their behavior towards her over night. After ignoring her for four years, they bombarded her with sexual harassment on a daily basis.

The situation at work felt like a reversal of that, and Lena wondered if there would ever been an acceptable medium between the two extremes — if she would ever be able to command an alpha’s respect.

Lena realized while staring at Kara that for a short while one alpha had treated her with total respect, but she had wrecked her relationship with the alpha instead of standing up for it.

She felt her eyes begin to water and reached for a napkin, but missed and shoved her hand straight into her pasta. It gave her colleagues even more to criticize about her.

“If she’s this messy out of the bedroom, can you imagine what she’s like in it? No wonder Kara liked her. It obviously wasn’t for her class.” Andrea’s disparaging comment reached Lena right around the time every alpha at the table turned to observe her with lustful disdain.

Lena loathed the satisfied sneer on Andrea’s face and would have marched over to dump the rest of the pasta on her if not for the fact that Kara returned with another full tray of food.

The Kryptonian’s presence reined in everyone’s rowdy attitude before they all got out of hand, and Lena wiped sauce from her fingers while Andrea cozied up to Kara flirtatiously.

If she had any dignity left, Lena would have gotten up and left, except the masochistic need to stay and witness Andrea make advances was keeping her rooted in place.

She viciously peeled the skin off the banana, clawing it apart the way she would have loved to tear into Andrea, and only stopped when Kara’s eyes landed on her.

That
proved too much for her to take, and the chair underneath her screeched in protest as she stood up abruptly. It drew ire from everyone in the cafeteria – not that Lena gave a damn as she hurried to stuff perfectly good food into the garbage.

God, was she trembling?

Her lack of coordination meant she tried to push through a pull door, and the resounding laughter that erupted left her smarting.

How the fuck was she supposed to operate and demonstrate her inventions when she couldn’t even work a door that was labeled?

The hallway seemed too narrow, and the restricting atmosphere threatened to stifle Lena’s breaths. She barely whined in distress when the door burst open and Kara was there, looming over her with concerned eyes.

“Lena—”

I’m fine,” Lena gasped, the lie inconsequential at this point as she shamefully huffed the pleasant scent of Kara’s pheromones. “Jack needs us to lead an important demonstration for Cat Grant and some other investors after lunch, so if you could untangle yourself from Andrea before then, that would be great.”

Lena didn’t linger to see the way Kara scoffed at her snide remark. The humiliation of announcing her own insecurities was unbearable enough without the added conflict.

Kara’s disgruntled pheromones followed Lena all the way to the lab, even if the alpha herself didn’t bother approaching her again.

They both drifted to their respective nano-bots, with Lena favoring the bee while Kara took the bear.

Before either of them could try to discuss how the demonstration should go, Jack appeared to usher them into the large presentation room.

“I know things are tense between you both, but I need you to set it aside and work together as a team. Nobody else knows this tech like you two, and we’re all relying on you,” Jack whispered as he slung his arms over their shoulders to prevent either one of them from trying to flee from the pressure he had put them under.

“Another terrible pep talk,” Lena complained under her breath, only to gape when Kara puffed her chest up and smiled directly at Cat Grant.

“You can count on me, Jack,” Kara stated with confidence, not once acknowledging Lena’s presence as she marched ahead like she was the head of the whole project.

Us,” Lena hissed, correcting Kara as she noticed the spice of rivalry creeping into the alpha’s pheromones.

Jack strode towards the podium and Kara placed the nanobear on a table at the center of the stage.

“Welcome to Spherical Industries,” Jack began with his lips too close the microphone as he clicked a remote to bring up a video on the screen behind him. “I would like to formally introduce you to my lead engineers, Dr. Lena Kieran Luthor, and Dr. Kara Zor-El. Lena received her Ph.D. in Engineering from CalTech, and Dr. Kara Zor-El was the youngest member appointed to the Science Guild on her home planet of Krypton. They are both prodigies in their own rights, and we are very fortunate to have them collaborating on our recent nanotech projects. ”

Lena filtered out the rest of their biographies in favor of glaring at Kara, who continued to ignore her.

Without any conscious pre-plotting, she elbowed Kara aside to set up the nanobee and accidentally pushed the bear off the table.

It wasn’t meant to be an act of war, but Kara must have interpreted it as such, because she activated the bear and instructed it to roar.

“As you can all see, our nanobear is drop-resistant and will survive a tumble from up to six feet,” Jack suavely stated, as if this was all part of their plan and not a terrible omen of what was to come next.

Normally he would condone a healthy competitive spirit, but as Lena stole a glance at Kara and the rigid set of her jaw, she doubted the Kryptonian had that in mind. The alpha’s confident musk distracted her for a second, and Lena blinked as the nanobear’s lasers mapped her facial features into its system.

“It’s the cutting edge of home security,” Jack bragged, oblivious to the way Lena bristled beside Kara. “It comes equipped with state of the art scanners which can easily be programmed to detect an intruder.”

As if on cue, Kara set the nanobear into defense mode, and the creature reared up on its hind legs to assess Lena’s level of threat. The crowd oooh’ed dramatically, and Lena took a step back in aggravation.

“Don’t you dare,” Lena warned quietly, already programming the nanobee to counter any attack Kara might input.

She expected Kara to ignore her warning, but the stubborn fool decided to mutter back, “It’s a presentation, and we should demonstrate what our tech can do.”

The pettiness brought a sour taste to Lena’s mouth, and Jack sidestepped the sudden commotion of the nanobear charging towards the desk they were standing behind.

The bear slashed at one of the legs, tearing chunks straight out of the wood with its razor-sharp claws, and Lena narrowly escaped having her ankle ripped off.

“Rest assured that anyone who breaks into your home will never reach you or your loved ones with the safety protocol on high alert.” Jack’s magnanimous stage presence prevented their target audience from noticing the haughty glare Lena sent Kara’s way.

Several quick taps on her tablet activated the stinger on the nanobee, and Lena smirked as the little device sliced through the air to buzz annoyingly around Kara’s pet project. It darted out of the nanobear’s reach, circling its head before choosing to strike with a series of well-placed jabs that enraged the bear.

Jack continued to narrate through the whole ordeal, a faint shimmer of sweat coating his forehead. “While our nanobee is designed for medical use, it too can be utilized for protection. Its swift movements make it an extremely difficult target to lock down.”

“You’ll damage the bear,” Kara grunted in anger, and it was frankly unfair how Lena’s omega reacted to the gruffness of her tone.

“Rather it than me. Call it off,” Lena countered in a whisper, the heat of her cheeks only partially due to anger.

Of all the times to get aroused, this event shouldn’t have been one of them, and yet the slick that coated her cunt begged to differ. She channeled her frustration into her work, and took it out on the tech with brutal precision.

Kara huffed at her audacity and took their whole display to another level by setting off the alarm that implored the home invader to stop resisting or extreme force would be issued.

You first,” Kara stressed, her posture signaling that this was some sort of command she expected Lena to follow.

Lena resisted and chose to call Kara’s bluff by doubling down on her assault on the nanobear. She must have landed a blow to its voicebox, because it let out a horrific, mangled screech that disoriented half the audience.

“Our nano-tech isn’t just fierce, it’s resilient to the harshest treatment, a feat that most nanotechnology can’t live up to!” Jack blurted, his voice high pitched from the fight breaking out in front of the investors.

Kara’s alpha evidently didn’t appreciate Lena’s skill at weaponizing the nanobee so effectively. In a bid to smack the flying pest away, she sent the nanobear hurtling towards Lena. The heavier device’s momentum made it unwieldy, and instead of sinking its teeth into the leg of the table to anchor itself, it bit Lena on the leg.

Choking on a scream, Lena kicked the nanobear towards a very startled Kara, who paled at the sight of blood.

Lena could almost hear the panic rising in the alpha and the gasps of shock from the investors spiked the air with concern.

Jack stuttered over an explanation while Kara flailed, and Lena flung her hand out to prevent the alpha from coming any closer.

“Our nanobee will put an end to rushing into the ER when accidents happen,” Lena called out, her voice strained as she fought the pain throbbing through her leg to enter the correct sequence for medical assistance.

The nanobee flew over to inspect the wound, and in a matter of seconds, it healed the bite with a series of small lasers that left no trace of damage behind.

Kara dropped to her knees dramatically next to Lena and wiped the blood away with her shirt sleeve, while Jack began clapping to encourage everyone else to do the same like this was exactly how they had planned the demonstration to go.

“Not only can the nanobee mend our bodies, it can also mend other Spherical Industries projects,” Jack announced, and Lena grudgingly got to work on fixing the nanobear.

She would have taken any excuse to strut away from Kara while she resided on her knees, because there was only so much her omega could tolerate.

After entering a code to begin repairs on the nanobear’s damaged wiring, she glanced over at the enthralled audience, who appeared to be conflicted after witnessing her injury.

Kara wasn’t helping matters by waiting so long to stand up, and Lena paraded out to the investors to let them see her leg up close.

“See?” Lena motioned to the spot where blood had been gushing moments ago. “Brand new.”

With a tight smile on her lips, she noted that Kara was watching with that bizarre expression on her face, like she planned to phone an ambulance.

She realized the alpha was genuinely worried for her, and for some reason that made her terribly uncoordinated. Tripping up the steps to the stage was an accident, and her finger slipped on the nanobee controls.

The bee flew around Kara with a loud buzz and then skyrocketed straight up to the ceiling, where it collided with the sprinkler sensor.

Lena’s mistake soaked all of the investors and set off the fire alarms on the floor, and by the time she recovered her senses and used the bee to shut it all off, her hair was plastered over her face.

“The nanobee is just what every company should keep on hand for an emergency!” Jack declared and hurried down from the podium to handle the damage control.

Winn was thinking fast on his feet, and gathered up some of the employees to retrieve towels with the Spherical Industries logo on the front.

As the investors grumbled and stood up to walk out, Winn handed them all complimentary towels with a big smile on his face.

“There will be refreshments down the hall, and I hope you all plan to stay so I can field your questions!” Jack garrulously called out, following the flow of the crowd through the doors and away from the damp room. “I know I have several.”

Lena remained on the stage and turned towards Kara, who looked like she had stepped into a shower with all of her clothes on. The stage had gotten most of the direct spray and Kara was the most drenched out of everyone.

“Did you do that on purpose just to get back at me?” Kara asked with a shrillness to her tone that Lena never encountered before.

“Oh yeah, consider it retaliation for mauling my leg with the nanobear,” Lena mocked with a roll of her eyes and reached for one of the free towels that her colleagues had left in the room. She returned to the stage afterwards to gather up their materials.

Lest she become even more riled than she was already feeling, Lena refused to so much as glance at Kara.

Kara was breathing hard, her shoulders in a full heave as she followed Lena. “What happened with the nanobear was an accident. I would never hurt you on purpose.”

Lena laughed at Kara’s ridiculous assertion. “That’s rich. I know what I did last night was awful, but you excluding me at lunch today was just childish.”

Kara came closer, exuding power and emotion even with every wild hand gesture. “When someone doesn’t even want to be on the same planet with me, I assume that means they don’t want to grab lunch.”

“I never said that!” Lena growled out, her lips contorting as she turned to get in Kara’s face. Anger compelled her forward and she blinked back tears of frustration to stare up at the alpha. “I made a mistake, Kara, I’m human, but after everything we’ve shared, you couldn’t even respond to my texts? I let you have me in ways that nobody else ever has, do you even understand the significance of that?”

Kara faltered with a pout forming on her lips until she smushed them together and postured with her hands on her waist. She bent over to meet Lena half way and informed her brusquely, “Well, Andrea told me that omegas only lie about their relationships when they’re ashamed of them.”

“Andrea will tell you anything that works in her favor because she wants you to date her,” Lena spat incredulously, her own breaths shorter from the adrenaline and high emotions of their fight.

She balled her fists and all but dared Kara to deny it, then scoffed in the alpha’s face when she immediately went on to excuse Andrea’s behavior.

“She’s just being nice,” Kara insisted, not bothering to straighten up as she inhaled deep lungfuls of Lena’s feisty scent.

“Have you seen her buy anyone else lunch or bake for them since you started working here?” Lena hissed from between clenched teeth, her nostrils flaring and eyes gleaming with hurt as she refused to let it go. “Andrea was flirting with you this whole time right in front of my face and you never stopped her or said you were taken, so how is that any different?”

Kara’s confusion dimmed to realization, but her alpha pride refused to let her acknowledge her own mistakes, and she snarled, “But you said that I’m not your alpha!”

“Aren’t you?” Lena fired back defiantly and grabbed the front of Kara’s soaked shirt like she wasn’t shorter and less physically strong. “Look me in the eye and tell me that I’m not yours.”

Kara’s lips parted in shock and the musk of her pheromones reflected her conflicted emotions. Inhaling more than exhaling, they stood in close proximity and sized one another up before pouncing.

Lena rended the shirt from Kara’s chest and tore open her leather belt. In return, Kara relieved Lena of her skirt and thong and forced her down against the table. This was a much different kind of presentation with Lena on her knees and her cunt bare.

She pressed her chest into the hard wood below her and crouched in a pose that promised her utmost submission.

Both of them were risking their careers by having sex out in the open like this, but the double doors to the large conference hall happened to be shut.

The noise of Kara’s zipper opening echoed in the vast emptiness and Lena clutched the edge of the desk in preparation with a pitiful whine. The blunt tip of Kara’s solid cock plunged through the embrace of her walls and Lena moaned at the force of her alpha’s strokes.

This wasn’t a tender reconciliation, and Kara bore down on her shoulders to assert her dominance with a growl. They needed it to be quick and messy, and Lena moaned from their rough mating, a raunchy unguarded sound that encouraged Kara’s thighs to batter into her ass. She pushed back against her mate, taking all of her cock with eager pleas until Kara pinned her hips in a bruising grip and exerted her control.

“Say that I’m yours, that only you can have me like this,” Lena implored, her omega begging for the confirmation with every slick clench of her pussy.

She worked her muscles to massage Kara’s length, pulling her in deeper so that Kara would have to rut even harder to keep her tight passage open. The brutal pace was creating delightful friction and Lena shuddered beneath Kara at the first rub against her swollen clit.

Her cunt and ass would be a punished shade of red by the time they were through if not for Kara slowing her fast thrust.

Kara rumbled something in her native tongue that Lena chose to believe was reassurance, and accepted the faster slam that spread her cunt and stung her backside. Lena took the harsher lunges as a sign of penance, and reached behind herself to clasp her backside, exposing her stuffed opening.

Under anyone else’s gaze that sort of submission would have been degrading, and Lena gasped at the rigid swell of Kara’s cock and how instantaneously it erupted inside her cunt. Hot seed pulsed against her cervix and Lena whined as the alpha pulled out to let the last few spurts claim the intimate areas between her thighs.

Lena tensed imperceptibly at the light touch of Kara’s fingertips smearing her essence over each place reverently, and then braced herself to take another rapid pounding.

It startled her when Kara spun her around to sit her daintily on the desk, freeing Lena’s tits from her shirt with eager little puffs of breath.

“No more fighting, okay? Being with you is all that matters to me,” Kara intoned with soft concern in her eyes. She pushed her fingers through Lena's hair to bring her in for a bruising kiss and palmed at her tits.

The confident glide of Kara’s tongue pushed into Lena’s mouth and she diligently sucked on it, her delicate hand dropping to blindly wrap around Kara’s erection to stroke in tandem.

Lena tried to convey her sorrow for hurting Kara by massaging the sensitive ridges just below the head of her cock. She used the pad of her thumb to give lots of special attention to the area, and the moment Kara moaned, Lena eased the tip into her grasping cunt.

“Forget Krypton and Earth, this is where you belong, Kara,” Lena rasped, raking her short nails over Kara’s shoulders and then under her open shirt to clasp at her heated skin.

They shared breath and held one another’s gaze while Lena undulated slowly, using her cunt to stroke the first three inches of Kara’s cock. She hoped Kara understood what she meant, that regardless of where they were from, they were meant to be together.

Lena reclined gradually, bringing Kara with her as she lifted her pelvis and hooked her legs around those powerful hips that bucked into her with long, full strokes.

She groaned at the sensation of Kara’s warm mouth on her, voraciously sucking at each of her nipples until the pebbled flesh ached and the dusky shade changed to a vibrant pink.

Lena writhed when the pleasure became torturous and Kara soothed her with two fingers against her clit.

The slippery friction evoked throaty moans out of Lena, and Kara silenced them with prolonged and passionate kisses that quickened Lena’s hips.

They rutted faster together, a sense of desperation creeping into their romantic dalliance until the erotic sound of Lena’s wet cunt filled the stage.

Lena grasped at Kara’s back during the first warm feeling of orgasm, her toes curling as the bliss traveled through her core. She flexed her shoulders and rocked through its hot intensification while Kara played with her clit.

“Oh—oh, fuck, Kara,” Lena groaned, her heavy lashes fluttering open so she could stare up at the person she loved.

The prideful pheromones Kara released were well earned and Lena gasped at the tighter restriction of her pussy. Kara would never knot her without permission, but the alpha’s cock periodically expanded while they fucked bare, and Lena’s omega got off on being stretched.

“Bite my neck and fill my cunt with all of your come,” Lena panted, uselessly trying to drag Kara on top of her. She wanted a lasting symbol of their healed relationship, and shoved her hair out of the way to let Kara suck at her throat.

“You’re going to look so beautiful when you finally wear my claim,” Kara lustfully intoned, puckering her lips over Lena’s thudding pulse to lavish the creamy skin there. She caught it between her teeth, fastening around the area reserved only for true mates, and exhaled a growl of need that vibrated through Lena and went straight to her cunt.

There was no denying that it turned Lena on to imagine it, and her slick ensured Kara’s cock could plunge into her deeper.

The glide kept their hips colliding, and Lena allowed herself to be vulnerable with whines that would appease Kara’s alpha.

To be so forthright about how much she wanted this was a show of trust, and Kara heightened Lena’s pleasure by biting hard.

The sharp sting flooded Lena’s system with dopamine and she whimpered with insatiable longing as Kara used her tongue to soothe the bite.

Lena wasn’t content with just one, and tipped her head back for Kara to indulge in the possessive right over her body.

“Mark me all over, don’t leave a single part of me untouched,” Lena whispered, the seductive rasp of her voice smoky from all of her moaning.

Kara obliged, leaving remnants of her love all across Lena’s neck and breasts, an intricate tapestry of emotion that laced Lena up in all the feelings she previously tried to conceal.

There was no hiding now, not from Kara or the way her heart seized the opportunity to make her love known itself by perfuming the air with something close to claimed pheromones.

It emboldened Kara to take further liberties, and Lena soon found herself with her knees raised up and pinned next to her tits. The position was lewd if not advantageous and she groaned at the sight of her slit being forced open. The stretched entrance of her pussy was full of seed and scarlet from rough use, and the turgid length of Kara’s cock drilled into her masterfully.

“I want to feel you come on my cock, Lena,” Kara asserted, her face hot to the touch and pheromones reeking of rut. She cupped Lena’s cunt in one hand and worked her thumb into the swollen hood of Lena’s clit to make her strain against the desk.

“You didn’t take your rut suppressors, did you?” Lena moaned in awe and relented to Kara dictating her pleasure.

Supple and tame, she did just as Kara wished and pursued sexual gratification. She gasped as her vision narrowed, omitting all else but the lights dangling above them. Kara pounded into her and reduced her to panting mess of hormones, and Lena entertained ideas of what they could do together after work.

“Should I allow you to knot me while you’re in rut, Kara?” Lena asked, in the mood to be persuaded to forego her inhibitions. Her gratitude from getting a second chance was making her reckless, and she palmed at her tits in excitement. “Tell me you want that, and I’ll take it for you tonight.”

The proposition unraveled Kara’s composure and the alpha grunted, hammering her hips like she had to prove her worth as thick ropes of seed emptied into Lena’s convulsing cunt. She looked almost feral in that moment, wisps of blonde hair sticking to her face, and her wide, ravenous eyes devouring the sight of Lena’s cream filled cunt.

“Yes, I want that,” Kara rumbled, resting her knee on the desk in a way that suggested she might just mount Lena right there on the table.

It took Lena whimpering to snap Kara out of her haze, and she pulled out with a guttural noise of pleasure upon witnessing the way Lena gaped.

Her cunt appeared to be begging for cock, and every spasm it gave forced seed to escape. Kara valiantly tried to push it back in with the broad tip of her cock, and the subtle penetration coaxed another hot spurt free. Lena rubbed it into her pussy, smearing it all over her labia with a sigh of contentment. The brief reprieve brought her back to her senses.

“We need to get dressed before anyone catches us like this,” Lena lamented, her omega bristling at the urgent way she decided to sit up to button Kara’s shirt.

She kissed her alpha as she handled her cock, stroking her a few more times before finally tucking her exceptional length into her pants.

“I hope you stay hard for me all day so you rail me when we get home,” Lena coyly stated, tracing her fingertip through the mess Kara left between her thighs. She slipped her thong up her legs and shivered when Kara rubbed into the cotton.

“You’re lucky tomorrow is Saturday, because you’re not going to get any sleep tonight,” Kara promised, the cocky grin on her lips frustratingly arousing.

“Good, that’s the last thing I need,” Lena sassed, feeling lighter now that things were finally normal between them. “Try not to smile at your desk when we get back. It’ll be easier if everyone still thinks we’re fighting.”

She hadn’t even put proper thought into what she was saying, but she saw how Kara registered it and knew instantaneously that she had made the wrong suggestion.

“You still don’t want anyone to know about us,” Kara muttered with a pained glower overtaking her grin and turning her lip up at the corner. “I shouldn’t have done this with you. I can’t—I really can’t believe that you would say all of those things to me, and tell me you love me when it’s very clear you’re also embarrassed to be seen with me.”

Lena shut down as easily as the nanobee did with the click of a button. She had the vague sense that she was still standing, but the total numbness that engulfed her made it hard to tune in to any part of her body, least of all her legs.

Kara started to turn and Lena moved about two steps with her hand outstretched.

“Kara, please,” Lena weakly whimpered, the words barely audible over the sound of the door opening.

Everyone is so quick to blame Lena, and… yeah ok, she makes mistakes, is abrasive, impulsive, clumsy with emotions (obviously) and hot-tempered. Our poor Kara is sweet and genuine and doesn’t deserve this treatment. But she also doesn’t realize the reality for omegas and is blind to everyone else’s treatment of Lena, even before the incident. Lena has reasons to mistrust alphas who constantly belittle her while harassing her sexually, and be aggressive in her work, else all her discoveries be credited to someone else because she’s an omega… She doesn’t seem to realize that blatant proof of their relationship at work will make Lena look like a slut while Kara always have the good spot because she’s an alpha

So close. And yet so far. Thanks for sharing ;)

Thank you! I think communicating her discomfort was a huge step for Lena. 😊Hard to admit she's feeling jealous when allegedly she doesn't even like Kara and wants to end things with her -- but she got there eventually! 😊

I’m late to the party! lol but so glad Lena said something to Kara about Andrea. Obviously Kara is oblivious to Andrea’s advance but Lena should still communicate her discomfort. And oh Lena. She needs to do better. Great story!

Yeah, Lena still has a lot to learn about herself, I'd say, and poor Kara is the casualty. 😭As for Jack, he's kind of an ass who also hasn't learned much, though he was trying. A teensy bit. There still needs to be more of a resolution with him/his behaviors. I'm looking forward to everything that's coming in the next chapter, too! 😊

She *almost* fixed it.. 😂

Lena yes. 😭

Close, yet so far. Thank you! Kara def has every right to be upset.

Thank you!! I really wanted the nanobot battle, ngl. 😁Switching gears from comedy to angst felt like an important development because of how conflicted Lena has been all throughout the fic. I think losing Kara might have been what Lena needed to really cope with her feelings, but she messed up twice. 😂I'm excited to write the next chapter and to see what direction it takes, too. ❤️💙

Yeah, and the worst part is she didn't even realize that'd hurt Kara's feelings. 😅Thank you!! I'll actually be deferring to the top tier patron as to whether they want more angst or if they want a resolution, so no idea what will happen as of yet, but it should be interesting either way! Messy angst is a fun change up to write. Thank youuu! And I hope you're well, staying safe and having a great pride month so far. 💙❤️

Yeah. 😩

I know. 😂

Lmao @ peak dumbass. 😅

Leeeeeennaaaaaaaaaaaa. God unlearning behavior is so hard isnt it she’s still got a bit of a way to go. Poor Kara just wants to be wanted that’s not so much to ask 🥺🥺 and I actually liked Jack this chapter!! He’s been a real prat most of this story but hey there’s hope for him yet it sounds like! Ugh so good. Can’t wait to see how Lena makes it up to Kara!

Rocket

Oh lena. Two steps forward and 86 back 😩

Lena noooooo

jesus, lena. you were so close 😭 but ugh this was a good update. i still felt bad for lena but it's just so understandable for kara to be upset.

Blake

Holy crap this chapter was absolutely wild!!! I loved the angst and the fighting and the making up …. I did not see that twist at the end coming though !!! This chapter made me feel so many things…. I love that Lena is coming to terms for her feelings for Kara but she needs to come to Jesus or she’ll lose Kara for good …. Cannot wait for the next installment I’m so here for this ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️😍😍😍😍

Sappho82

The angst and reconciliation only for Lena to mess it all up again. Oh sweet Rao Lena you are an idiot and poor Kara I understand her anger and frustration. Messy chapter but with excellent smut. Here’s hoping the next installment has some type of resolution or if you choose to drag out the angst I’m fine with too. Amazing chapter love all the messy angst. As always hope you are well staying safe. ❤️💙😊😊

Goddammit, Lena.

🤦‍♀️ Leeenaaa!
