I made a trip back to a folder called "Older Stuff" and found this story there, along with an outline for an entire novella-length plot. And what's weird about comparing this to any of my older work, is that I actually kind of like it.
It's wildly different than a lot of things I've written recently. It's got style! Atmosphere! World building! Actual characters! An actual plot!
It might be fun to continue if I can find the time to pick it up again. In the meantime, here's the first 7 chapters.
Bonus: There's an orphaned chapter here that apparently doesn't fit with the others, so I'm sharing it here anyway.
