If you've all caught up, I'm sure you'll have a sense of what's coming for poor Kione... although even then, I hope there will be a few things in here to take you by surprise. It's going to be brutal - that, I can promise
Just to furnish you with a quick sketch of what's coming: this is the penultimate chapter, and the final one will be coming in a week or two's time. After that, RESCUE HOUND proper will be finished although I do intend to produce a Leinth-focused side-chapter (although probably not until sometime next month, after I've had time to tend to a couple of other projects)

The way it all feels inevitable, watching her build up her hopes and ideals on a flimsy foundation until there’s nothing left when she knocks it over, and then the fall that she’s powerless to stop… The hubris, and wings coming off. I love this story, what a perfect climax!

She was trying to do better, in her own way, but she's yet another victim of Handler's manipulation. Speaking of whom... trust me, her dialogue is RIDICULOUSLY fun to write haha. Especially here, where she's in full supervillain mode Thank you again! I will certainly keep writing, I have plenty of plans :)

She was thrust into a fucked situation from the start and just... fumbled every opportunity to improve it (relatable!) That wistful thought about having had practice remaking herself as a teenager hit hard. I adore how trans these characters are. Really thought there was a chance she could at least strike a small blow to this whole carnival of horrors... Sartha!! The hero arrives!!! There's something beautiful in how she and the rebels just can't stop fighting, even knowing they're beyond help. It's been so thoroughly demonstrated how utterly wrecked Sartha is on the inside but there's embers in her soul that haven't gone out and I love seeing it (even if it was immediately exploited hhhh). I wonder if all this is Handler's effort to snuff out that last bit of her and achieve a perfect personality rewrite. I wonder how long it takes to come up with Handler's dialogue hehe. When she speaks I'm always on the edge of my seat, she's perfectly balanced in deception and truth. gods even the descriptions of combat are so, so satisfying. Please keep writing as long as you find it fulfilling, we adore your work 💙
