Quick Commissions Annoucements

Hi! I have two quick announcements I wanted to make. Both of them relate exclusively to commissions, so if you're not looking to commission me, feel free to disregard all of this. It won't affect you at all

1) Availability - my commissions are currently closed

I've received a lot of inquiries recently, and so I thought it might be helpful to get that out there. The reason is very simply that I already have a significant queue I need to work through. Receiving so much interest is incredibly flattering. It really does put a smile on my face whenever someone asks me about commissions. But there's only so much I can commit myself to at once, and even though I don't take advance payment, I don't like to promise people things that I might not be able to deliver on for many months

Once my commissions are open again, I'll be sure to announce it clearly here on Patreon so that no one misses it. However, if you're ever unsure or you have a question, feel free to DM me! I'm always happy to answer

2) Pricing - starting now, the price of my commissions will be increasing to $0.05 per word (i.e. $50 per 1000 words, if that's clearer)

There are a couple of reasons for this. The first, very simply, is that things are still quite tight for me (thanks, inflation!), and I don't have a whole lot of choice if I want to make ends meet comfortably. I've been charging the same old commission rate for years now, and it's no longer worth what it was. The other reason is that it's more in line with what other writers charge. I believe my work is worth just as much as theirs, and I want to wear that on my chest. And perhaps more importantly, I don't want to undercut them by offering rates that are so much lower than what we all deserve

I am glad to have been able to keep my rates so low for so long. I hope it's encouraged some people to get commissions from me, but I'm extremely confident that the time and effort I put into each commission is worth the rate I'm now offering. And realistically, this higher rate is going to help me out a lot. I'd write for free if I could, but I really can't, and this year I've become more aware of that than ever. I need to be able to eat and pay my rent

If you're currently in my commission queue, I'll be sure to run this past you directly before writing your commission. If it changes your willingness to commission me, that's totally fine. It's nothing to be embarrassed about, and if you tell me you're no longer interested, I promise it won't lead to any bad feelings between us. I completely understand, truly
