SKETCHBOOK: March design sketchdump // sfw

as recently mentioned, i decided to re-design my character march. originally, he was a black/purple dragon; this new design is more influenced by the goetic demon he's actually named after, marchosias. marchosias is described as a fire-breathing wolf with wings and a snake's tail. the thing is, i already have a bunch of canine-based characters, and i honestly didn't feel like designing yet another wolf demon. i decided to base the concept more on the other parts of the description--the wings, the serpentine tail, and the fire-breathing--and sort of build off of those aspects. he's covered in a mixture of scales and feathers, and is capable of spitting what's basically liquid fire (hence the glow from inside his chest). the shape of his wings is vaguely inspired by certain stylized angel wings in classic art, and the mane of his monstrous forms is intended to match the dumb 80s hair of his human form (he's a shapeshifter).

i'm still fine-tuning this design, and some things might still change, but i feel like i laid a pretty solid foundation and i'm way happier with this look for him!

oh, and as for the christmas sweater doodle ... his partner charlie made him wear it. march is a dumb stubborn hardcore punk--yet somehow he lets charlie get away with almost anything. (as revenge, he devours all the cookies they just baked...)
