BTS (방탄소년단) - Outro: Tear REACTION

THIS IS REAL RAP, ICL 🤌

Patreon Poll Reaction #3

One of Three BTS Suggestions From The Poll!

BTS (방탄소년단) - Outro: Tear REACTION

Comments

I never know whether to vibe or get emotional when I listen to Tear,, definitely one of my fave rapline songs. Also you clocking that this was Yoongi makes me smile, they have quite distinct styles and working it out and recognising it is such a great feeling

Yasuwu

Your breakdown and thought processes are absolutely brilliant!!! Thank you so much for this reaction!! I'm sure by now you already know that this is Suga's work and each member wrote their own lines and RM is the leader but he's bang in the middle. He has 3 older members and 3 younger☺️😊

Rozaliyah

Watched on my phone so was kinda hard to read the lyrics, but what I did catch had me thinking like you were about the word tear having a double meaning. 👉 smh shame on you for making a gun with your hand - it triggered me 😉

GrinGrin

Fun little side note since you are also an Agust D fan. His verse were he sings "burn it, yeah, yeah, yeah, burn it" is the chorus of one of my all time fav Agust D tracks 'Burn it' from his D-2 album.

Jessica Whelan

your ability of knowing who made songs strikes again, Suga written all over this :D

Susi

Thrilled that you enjoyed this one, for sure one of their deepest and heaviest songs. As much as I wish someone had given you SOME context, it was incredible to see you go from "maybe this is about family" "okay maybe more like friends?" "oh my, this is about the group" so quick. I love seeing you find the meaning behind songs, and I actually prefer that there's no one feeding it to you, explaining it to you in real time. I think for this song in particular, very little context like "this song is from a time when they thought they were gonna disband for good" would have been sufficent, but again, you figured it out on your own. And the way your circled back to family again.... that yes maybe this is a group, they are friends... but they are LIKE family, and normally you wouldn't need to think about your family "ending" but that's what it felt like to them, and the tragedy of it, and the confusion, the immense pain that came with it. Oh and they most definitely played with the word Tear regarding the pronunciation. After the first verse when RM goes "You're my tear, you are my, you are my tear", it's hard to even say which pronunciation he's using, at least to my ears, and english isn't my first language. And I think he did that on purpose. And obviously at the very end J-Hope clearly uses both pronunciations. And someone correct me if I'm wrong, I wasn't active in the fandom when they released the song, but I think at first they didn't give context to this song. It was only later that someone, maybe Yoongi revealed the story behind it, and how it's about the group, etc... and the fandom collectively lost it and broke down over it. I know it's in their past now, but as someone who loves the group and the boys dearly, this song is hard to listen to without tearing up.

Viki

Hi! Just wanted to suggest some options that might help with what you spoke about in the beginning. Some reactors have used Discord to connect with Army! If you film the reaction live, then Army can answer questions real time. Twitch also works!

Jennifer C

Suga has described them during that time period as a couple that knows they should break up but neither party wants to be the bad guy and say the words first. It's probably a lot easier for groups to break up when they're struggling and things aren't going well, but it was the opposite for them, they were rapidly growing at the time. Now imagine knowing that your decision can potentially end not only your dream career but also that of 6 other people. And you also care about those other people. Looking from the side lines it always seems to me like no part of their journey has been easy. But I guess that just shows how much they love their work, their ARMY and being able to perform, to be able to push through anything and everything and come out on the other side stronger both as individuals and as a team. I really REALLY hope you watch this performed live. Either the one at Wembley (should be the first video that pops up when searching for outro: tear live, or the one on Enjoy BTS More channel, that one also has RM's and Suga's commentary on the song, it's super short though) One final note, I always say that jhope is the one who sets the emotion for the songs. They all killed it ofc but jhope killed it and then ascended with it.

KALISKA

Can vouch for that list! As a hip hop lover first and then becoming a BTS lover in 2015! I would add to the list tho: Autumn/Dead Leaves Whalien 52 You Never Walk Alone Outro: Her AND there's a lot of banging and underrated solo songs from the Rap Line, If you'll get to that someday, I'll let you know^^

KAGE

if he does the cyphers i hope he does the busan concert part instead ,newer also so much bettterrr

Firas Ayadi

I don't know if you have already spoken about this, and I don't want to bother you to much about it, but if you would, will you please react to the live performance of Outro: Tear @ Wembley Stadium. It is absolutely a legendary performance that probably every Army has seen! It is truly an insanely great performance, i like every way. 💜

Irene (DragonsWrathxxx)

Suga said he wrote the melody, and than rhe all wrote the lyrics for there verses, that has always been my understanding, but that it was also written for the other members as well.

Irene (DragonsWrathxxx)

This song is a song that Suga first started to create. He did the melody and than each of the rapline members wrote their verses, but they wrote them for themselves and the other members. But yes it has to do with the word tear, specifically, and its many meanings RM- tear as into cry suga- tear, as in to tear it apart, or rip jhope-fear as in the fear of a uncertain future without the group being together, and the fear of just not being together, apart of the group anymore, etc... Yes, this is a song that was written when they were considering disbanding. We learned through their book documentary that was released last year called "Beyond the Story" , as well as when the members have spoken about this themselves, that they were working so hard at this time with like no time off, and it seemed to just become too much you know. At the time I think one of them had mentioned having like no days off. This was all while finishing a big world tour, preparing for the end of the year shows and award ceremonies, not to mention they were really writing history in the western music industry and were supposed to attend the Billboard Awards, etc..., and I think they were uncertain and possibly fearful because of how high they had reached, and how quick it happened, all the pressure that comes with that, not to mention being like the first to ever do it. And I think they may have been even doing more shows for something else even after they had finished the previous world tour. They were dealing with burn out, some really badly, but it seems that they were all just too exhausted. There was like no stop in sight, and all the while they never really got a true break, if hardly any at all, to heal and recharge, etc... Honestly I can't even imagine what that must have been like for all of them, and it makes me feel horrible to know that they had to endure that. Even though Suga mentioned understanding more about why they were being guided to keep pushing so hard at that time, from like a career standpoint. At least I think these are some of the things I read and remember learning. Don't know of you really look at the comments on youtube for the patreon posts, so I will just post it in both places. Thanks for the great reaction to an absolutely incredible song!💜

Irene (DragonsWrathxxx)

Teddy, is your focus right now group stuff or will you still be reacting to solo tracks?

Nicole

You're pretty spot on there. It was written when BTS almost split up a few years back.

Naomi H

The song that got bts their first ever win in korean music shows is i need you (2015) still one of my fav bts songs ever if you’re gonna watch it please watch the (Original ver.) MV

W V

HYPE never chooses the oldest member as the leader, I think it’s because it’s too much pressure on one person and other members might get too intimidated to voice their opinions so actually there are 3 members older than RM (Jin, suga, jhope).

W V

And if it's just for the Patreon, you don't have to worry about backlash for anything you say

SingingRazors

also bts started became popular in korea when they dropped most beautiful moment in life album which is around 2015.

princess

Outro: TEAR is the last song of their album Love Yourself: Tear (one of their best, in my opinion, no skips). The intro to that album is Singularity, which you’ve reacted to and also has a sadder meaning, although with V singing it its hard to pay attention to the lyrics. Basically, there is a whole storyline going through the solos and the subunit songs. The rap line has their three trivia songs (just dance, love, seesaw), while the vocal line has their solos (serendipity, euphoria, singularity, epiphany), they all show different phases of a relationship and love. As has been said, Suga wrote this for the members about their near disbandment. But I think, as usual, each member of the rap line wrote their verse. They are all credited. Probably worked on it together as well.

Vish

I been waiting so long for this

Tatush

In 2018 they struggled a lot with pressure and anxiety. I think in the guide, there was a scene of them crying at an award show (Taehyung’s hair was red and he was wearing a red suit) around that time they were contemplating if they should disband or not, thankfully they decided not to and kept going. During that speech they all started crying after Jin told the audience that they thought about disbanding. The group means a lot to each individual member and the thought about disbanding was really painful to all of them. That’s why they all cried after Suga showed them the song for the first time. They consider each other family so I think your interpretation of the song was on point! I think the song can be interpreted in many different ways but for me personally, I think the song shows what disbanding would mean to them individually. For RM it means sadness, for Suga it’s painful and it feels like being torn apart, and for jhope it means fear. I feel like their styles of rapping in each section represents those feelings. They convey their emotions even more in the live version, especially jhope, so I think you should definitely check that out :)

Lena Marie

Really enjoying your reactions btw! 😊

Nadia Shaik

Deep voice Suga, First Love You’ll love it. Plus Suga is older to RM even though RM is the leader. Jin is older to Suga.

Nadia Shaik

RM is the leader but Suga is older. The guys all wrote their own parts and DOCSKIM produced the track. Verse and song arrangement is done by best fit.

Nicole

He already has on YouTube

Nicole

Yes, Suga uses that voice in Louder Than Bombs, too. This was written by Suga when they were talking about disbanding. He showed the lyrics to RM and Jhope, and they wrote the song together (ARMYs, please correct me if I'm wrong about Hobi and Namjoon co-writing the final song lyrics). This is a special and emotional one for all of us ARMYs. I suggest you watch the live performance at Wembley since it is really emotional, especially Jhope's part. I've been waiting so long for this reaction and am so glad you took your time for this. Thank you for this genuine, heartwarming reaction, as always. Borahae

Elnaz

What’s his discord server??

Nicole

As always, you are spot on with your interpretation without any help to understand the story. Thank you for another great reaction! They were thinking about breaking up and they wrote this song about it. Suga especially says that they are sometimes more than friends or a band but more like family because they were thrown onto each other and shared a lot of memories/ emotions/ hardships regardless so there are definitely a bag of mixed feelings to be dealt with... with 7 completely individual people in one group.

Anna Spohn

Hey Teddy i know people have been suggesting lorna shore but I think as someone who like to know the deep down stuff I'd love you to react to this vidoe of will ramos (the lead singer) having a camera up his nose into his throat to see how he makes the noises he does!! Its amazing and he even baffles the scientists!! Here's the link Even if its a patron vid, it scratched all the parts of my autistic brain hahaha https://youtu.be/Ua8SuWNPrLE?si=7P8mx-x1fPtQh6Q2

Might be worthwhile hosting a live reaction night for the Patreon so that ARMY can be there and provide live insights and context as we go along?

The Talanton

Louder than bombs has also Suga’s deep voice rapping I’d say. It’s an all members song. Love the harmonies and message on it. Great one for a curve ball perhaps..?

Kiya likes rap

maybe you can check out Agust D-what do you think (name of the song)

princess

I’m glad I caught on that Suga wrote this one, he’s always on the deep metaphors, I love it!

Teddy Grey

Firas Ayadi

The live performance of this is 🔥 especially Hope’s stage presence. I highly recommend watching it 💜 Thanks for the reaction Teddy!

Zo

That 4hr long guide I watched should really have mentioned that 😭😂

Teddy Grey

The live version is amazinggg

v_endd

“The lyrics for Tear were written for the members. When I was writing the melody, at the time, we were deeply contemplating whether we should quit or not. When I played the song for the members, we all cried together.” - Suga

v_endd

I clicked so fast oml. The song was written at a time where they were seriously thinking of disbanding so it’s a bit of a tough one for fans🥹

Katariina

Also, the live version from Wembley is a must! You can see and hear the emotion.

LINDSEY WARD

This song was written when they were thinking of disbanding. It holds a lot of emotion
