The idea of Stoneheart gripping the blade without a hilt that could be resurrected Jon blew my mind. On this reread I’ve glommed on to the horror elements—can’t wait for Valar Rereadis to cover Reek 2, ADWD—because George’s prose is so compelling when working in that mode. Not sure if the timeline would work out, but Jon and Lady Stoneheart rampaging in TWoW would give ample opportunity for him to showcase the horror. It would be exciting and dreadful.
