Valar Rereadis: A Feast for Crows Review

At the usual time of 3 Eastern, we discuss the book as a whole. Lady Gwyn, Nina Friel and Joe Buckley will be joining us again!

This is a great time to ask questions:

- Did you disagree with any of our takes and/or assumptions and/or theories?
- Do you have any of your own you want us to consider?
- Did we miss anything?
- Are there any topics you want us to delve deeper into?
- What topics and characters stood out to you the most this time through?
- How has the TV show impacted your re-read?

Oh great catch on the insect bites! That's one I missed :) Also, I almost wrote "incest" bites...

History of Westeros

I’ve enjoyed all the rereads, but this was my favourite. Gonna miss it! One thing I really didn’t expect was all the Dunk & Egg parallels. I remembered the shield on Tarth, and the symbolism of not-really-a-knight-but-more-knightly-than-anyone, but I was blown away by some others. Brienne’s chapters gave us the Broken Man monologue, but The Sworn Sword shows us the recruiting of those small folk fighters, and really the same debate. Foes charge them in the same way, trying to vanquish them quickly. underestimating their prowess. There are many times you could imagine them saying each other’s lines. Dunk could certainly say ‘no chance and no choice’ many times. At the Whispers I could imagine Brienne saying ‘I’m better with a real sword’. Hell, they even scratch insect bites on their necks the same!
