I keep wondering if the repeated bird imagery surrounding Sansa is hinting that her warg abilities will become stronger. I wonder if in a moment of desperation she reaches for a bird and takes it. It might be to back up her new leadership and strategic qualities through spying- as we see Bran using ravens and Summer to do, while Arya uses the cat from Bravos... Varys does call his spies ‘Little Birds’ after all.
