intro to my 3D process! (video)

okay i got excited and made this first... wanted to make something that felt more intimate and in-the-moment than a voice-over recording of what I already made. this just answers some of the most frequently asked questions I get... and an overview of the programs I use!

i'm also adding some links below that are more in-depth explanations of 3D for folks who are brand new to this world... don't be alarmed haha everyone starts with the crippling feeling of being in over their heads!!! when I started I felt completely blind and powerless and I made 102938901283 mistakes before I properly learned how to make things the way I envisioned them in my head.

I encourage you to accept that it's going to take a lil while to understand all of it! (I'm still learning myself) && don't give up!!!

i'm glad it helped!! I'm a firm believer of understanding things conceptually first before jumping in :)

maaad informative, particularly links for context with rendering and rasterization. thank you for all of this 🀲

do you know if it is it harder to animate a sculpted model ?

You’re voice is so soothing

I actually had the same exact problem!! Hard surface modeling is rly rly tough when u don’t already know what you’re working towards... I actually think the modeling step is decently creative if u have a general idea... like for the carousel I just used a lot of mograph tools to build out the shapes... which I edited a lot in the modeling process! I also think problem solving is creative work hehe oh but for the signs which were more designed, I sketched first!! Sorry this answer was super nonlinear

so interesting thank you!! do you tend to sketch everything first before you get into 3d? curious what ur pre-3d steps are for something like that theme park! maybe im just bad/new at hard surface modelling but i find that its really frustrating to go in without really specific references. though in a way i feel like its a shame there isnt more of a creative phase that happens in the actual modelling step

i have friends who make crazy cool stuff in blender!!! tbh i really want to try it myself... but yeah there are pretty good inexpensive PCs you can invest in like the ASUS ROG (republic of gamers) series... they're prebuilt PCs so they come out of the box ready to slay &&& they have pretty good specs for 3D since they're built for gaming

this is super informative!! it sucks because i kinda just own a crappy 2015 macbook and really only use blender but now i definitely wanna invest in other applications ;;

Yes!! I’ll do that soon, I’m working on a process video for making 3D shoes so I’ll get on that next

😳😍 can u make a quick vid like this, with the basic concept of animating in photoshop, like is it all just by frames? :0 curious about the stray rats animation
