Lolol there’s 8 books 😂 there’s 800 years! A loooot has happened. These first two seasons are just the prologue, honestly. I cannot wait for next season, because that’s when stuff will get really deep, and everything about Xie Lian, Mu Qing, Feng Xin, and Hua Cheng’s weird interactions with each other will start to make sense. Unfortunately the structure of this story works so much better as a written novel, and less so as an episodic animation with limited space to explore the nuance of inner dialogue and the impact of certain written lines. Also as far as what else there is to the story — the side characters are actually a lot more important than you usually see in a lot of stories like this. They are not just supporting NPCs that exist on the sidelines. Everyone has a lot of backstory and depth, and each of them have stories that tie into the themes of the story in really deep and impactful ways. Also the rain is blood🩸HC is so powerful that when FX provoked him by saying he couldn’t take care of the little ghost cleanup instantly, he literally did just that and the blood rain was basically all the little ghosts dying at once lol how’s that for instant? 😂 That’s also where he got his name (which was mentioned in season one) Crimson Rain Sought Flower. The first time he fought Qi Rong and destroyed his lair he did the same thing, but he saw a precious little white flower and held his umbrella over it to shield it from the blood rain (just like he does for his man 👀)

I love how Wind Master and Hua Cheng have this friendly understanding despite not knowing each other at all, simply because they both get along with Xie Lian. You said you don't know how there's much more to this. I'll just say it's because with each new little thing Xie Lian solves/handles, it pulls a thread to a much larger picture. It largely involves delving into side character's motivations and pasts. For me it drags on a little, but there's still interesting things to see nonetheless! Looking forward to the next episode!
