I've seen fair and understanding, Xichen's attitude toward a second accusation on Guangyao is most definitely not fair and understanding. I can excuse it because of the history they have which haven't been revealed yet but "fair and understanding" i don't agree with that at all

I think Nie Mingue's soul is so full of resentful energy that he can only obsess over the events of his past involving Yao, and that sucked Wuxian into those memories. Yao didn't try to kill a bunch of Jins, only that one guy who stole his battle plans and tried to pass them off as his. Jin Guangshan clearly knows Yao has joined his army, he's just lying because he still refuses to acknowledge his bastard son. Yao has been stuck in Jin hell, basically, trying and trying to win his father's approval but being treated like shit by everyone including his shitty father. Yao also doesn't try to kill Mingue, he just stunned him long enough to escape. Mingue did tell Xichen about it but Xichen heard Yao's side of the story and believed him - that Yao is sorry he freaked out that day or whatever. Xichen isn't blind or stupid but he does try to always be fair and understanding - plus, he and Yao have history that makes Xichen sympathetic to all the struggles Yao has been through. At this point in their history, Yao seems to have made up for his "mistake" by infiltrating the Wens, sneaking Mingue out of the Wen jail, and sending important information about the Wens in secret, and then being the one to strike the killing blow on Wen Ruohan. For appearances anyway, Mingue seems to have accepted that Yao is back on the correct path after all this mess and now those three have become sworn brothers.
