Another really enjoyable one. Then in retrospect after getting into old-school hip hop classics in the late '90s, I worked my way to Paul's Boutique and it is a really jarring sound compared to their first album Licensed to Ill, nevermind the Boogie Down Productions etc. records from other artists that came before...

2026-02-14 07:39:55 +0000 UTCI do agree that I'm not that into their vocals overall, but god there energy is so good, the sampling is wild and I just respect the fuck out of what they do. It's so fun, and the way they bounce off eachother is so seamless. I highly recommend everyone check out the podcast No Dogs In Space, who did a 6 part series on the Beastie Boys. They go through their whole history, and really show off how they eventually were connected with and respected by both the NYC hip hop and punk scenes.
