Please Bob when you listen to Thursday which is next after House of Balloons, you should listen to the OG version instead of the Trilogy versions. The OG mix sound darker and I feel sound better.

Glad you’ve started The Weeknd discography. Never was a fan of him until I got into college. Didn’t know what I was missing back in the day. What you Need was always my favorite song from him tho and still is today.

I say take your time through for the next two albums. People always want you to rush through an artists discography, I feel like they forget that these albums usually are separated by years most likely. Somehow, Abel managed to come out with these three all in the same year, but i’m sure it’ll be nice to properly give each one of these there time!

Don't know if anyone has mentioned this but the other track on the Trilogy version of HoB is "Twenty Eight". It also has a music video if you'd be interested in reacting to that. I know sometimes the visuals and art direction sometimes take away from the music itself, but its worth a look to see the type of character he was in those days. "King of the Fall" was another kind of stand-alone track/video that is just so damn good.

You HAVE to do the rest of the trilogy soon. Trilogy is my second favorite music project of all time, second only to the all time Great Wish you were here by the goats pinks floyd. Echoes of silence is the best installment of the trilogy too imo, you’ll love it

i agree! i think the after party is more often just a more intimate setting, when you have the closer friends finish the night. and the second part of this song sounds much more intimate. It even feels like abel is right in your ear talking to you.

The after party is not a come down. You go to the after party if you wanna keep the night going. Let’s say the cops shut down a house party at 2am, you go to an after party at someone else’s place, usually with a fraction of the amount of people that were at the party. Anyways, that’s just my experience.

Bob, this isn’t Abel’s first album. It’s actually a mixtape and it released 3/21/11 The same year Frank Ocean’s debut mixtape Nostalgia Ultra released, 2/16/11 Both projects blew up and I remember a lot of debate at the time of who was better. I was team Frank but I love both projects.

that was freaking fantastic - loved seeing your reaction to this. the first time i heard hob/gtg i was bouncing off the walls. he's definitely an artist for me where he has no bad projects, it's just all gold. i saw him live with my brother and sister when he came to metlife stadium in NJ last month and i still feel like it was one of the greatest experiences of my life - still feeling that high lol. blinding lights is just a banger too and that album it's on (after hours) shares a buncha themes with house of balloons even though the setting and sound are different and things are so much more grand. the dude is so consistent lyrically and sonically. dawn fm is still my AOTY also. the video for wicked games is such a classic imo - i definitely hope you got to watch! blinding lights has an amazing video also but i can see the worth in saving it if you ever get to after hours.

The Knowing is such a perfect end, to me it’s him finding out that his partner has cheated and instead of admitting he’s hurt as what he truly wants is, like you said the drug he doesn’t have (love), he simply takes revenge and cheats as well before she tells him and acts like he was never hurt. It’s like the ‘house of balloons’ is a crutch he falls onto when he can’t get the love he truly desires and tricks himself with the drugs, sex and parties
