An Interesting anecdote of Baby Keem is that there have been several Reference tracks that have surfaced of Baby Keem sung by none other than his cousin K Dot. Sparking several rumors that range from “Kendrick writes all his stuff” to “Baby Keem is a just a tool for Kendrick to experiment freely” knowing that if he ever did songs like Pink Panties, old heads would say he fell off and his own fan base might even turn on him.

A lot of the times the lyrics are purposefully written to be silly and dumb, either for comedic effect or just to keep the song lighthearted. I think if you just keep in mind that it’s not meant to be deep then you’ll be able more easily vibe with the lyrics for albums like this. People say the lyrics are “bad” if they’re not deep/profound but when Keem says “I’m sexy and blessed”, “I need a girlfriend”, or “my name is not Jeff” he’s not trying to be deep, he’s just joking around. It’s completely intentional.

Also listen to God Don't Make Mistakes by Conway the Machine, some of the songs on there got some great lyrics to tear into and it's got a really good sound as well.

2022-07-17 12:43:04 +0000 UTCSo if I remember correctly keem said the best for “16” was “stolen” from Kendrick it was supposedly on his computer in the possible beats for his “DAMN” album and when he heard “16” for the first time he really liked it and asked where he got the beat, which keem responded with “from you” and Kendrick doesn’t remember it which makes sense man must have a plethora of beats.

The og version has a beat switch up and a insane Kendrick verse. I know why they did it given that he recycled that verse for N95, just wish they would have took the song out. Yo idk what people have told you but you’ve definitely listened to a lot of trap so far. If Rodeo or Whole Lotta Red aren’t it then idk what is. Also the mud, lean, Ak, or wok are some of the many words used to describe codine or codine with promethazine.

For some of his earliest work, this is pretty out there. and I can definitely appreciate that in an artist, rather than just playing it safe. Also this album is mostly just him which is also not that common nowadays. I see the vision, I see the ideas, I see the experimentation. Which is what makes me appreciate more this album rather than just taking it at face value. Edit: I just realized I said appreciate a ton lol. I'm kinda tired when writing this so please excuse my repetitiveness

Like with Carti his lyrics aren’t deep in any sense but they are aggressive and violent which pair with the beat creating a violent picture. With Travis his vibe is spacey and his flow is taking the beat in different ways it can’t go on its own. I’ve seen all of your reactions so I know it isn’t easy for you lmao. Which is fine because lyrics are more important when listening to certain artists and I love lyrics just as much as production in music. Excited for channel orange. Keep ‘em comin bob

Once it came out, he started getting a lot of hate because people felt like Kendrick gave him a silver spoon to eat off of. I was bumping his 2019 mixtape heavy, thinking he was dope. I don’t think I found out who he was until 2020 So yeah, ignore the haters. A lot of it is people mad at unearned nepotism but Keem I think has proven himself before and after we found out his relations.

If anything keem on morale is so much better than anything here. Feels like a waste of a week for Bob, hope you can listen to a short album on sunday or Monday. Dj premier just released a 5 song ep that’s really good, maybe give that a listen?

His previous 2 and only projects Die For My Bitch & The Sound of Bad Habit have a raw, hard hitting, classic sound to it produced mostly by Cardo that honestly fits Keems style way more then what he tried on this more all over the place experimental album
