Video Hosting Emergency

Comments

you have to download a video to stream something, so way around it, its a technical issue

Zach B.

All this for saying you're gonna listen to Drake. Jeez.

I appreciate it, but we're not giving the extorting thieves at Vimeo what they're demanding. At minimum, they should be allowing me to purchase more account slots to scale upward. If $600/yr allows 24tb, $1800/yr should allow 72tb. $5,100/yr for 60tb is theft.

The full album versions get blocked by the scanning software regardless of the view-ability setting.

I say use whatever underhanded tactic you possibly can, these scumbags make enough money

Joseph Kiley

if there seems to be no options (which i bet won’t happen) i’d be willing to donate to a gofundme for you or something

Angelo Rassias

Dropbox for the win!!

Sam G

I doubt people are downloading the video. I would think people are just streaming it. I can't be sure tho

joe

^ This. It'd be a good idea to take care of this ASAP because a ton of his videos were completely unavailable until he'd finished making the transition to Dropbox and he lost a small chunk of subscribers through no fault of his own.

Talk to Jon Denton. Another creator who reacts to music. He seemed to have a similair problem a while ago but started using dropbox instead

Oliver Hed

why don't you upload videos to youtube and have them unlisted?

Thanks for the comment, Ian. I appreciate it. We'll get it figured out.

Bob_the_Poppop

You'd think Vimeo would be thrilled about the traffic :/ Anyway I love your transparacy Bob and I hope someone can help with a solution... Now I'm about to be part of the problem, it's Biggie time finally

So, to explain the insane price hike: These service provider companies usually tier their services for consumers vs. companies. I think because your channel is getting so much viewership, they are assuming you're a big company that can afford $5000 a year. That kind of money is usually just a rounding error for big companies' accounting departments. Anyway, to solve your problem, J Jones' suggestion of using AWS is a good idea but the setup and maintenance might be a bit too complicated if you don't already work in IT or software development. I just started writing out this comment after seeing your video so I don't have an easier route off the top of my head but I'll do some research and see if there's a more user friendly option. If not, I can try and find some easy to follow tutorials for setting up video hosting on AWS. I'll comment back here with what I find.

Ian Harvey

Thank you, checking it out now 👍

The reason why it works to upload to vimeo is because companies aren't checking it much for copyright, correct? If that's the case, then it's possible that uploading to a competitor of YouTube, such as odysee, might fix the problem. Of the competitors to Youtube out there (Rumble, Bitchute) Odysee is the most user friendly and the most interested in just allowing users to do what they want. I can't promise it will work but it might be worth a try. https://odysee.com/

Maybe AWS? I know they have some prebuilt tools in the AWS Marketplace. Or if you, or someone you know, has the technical chops, you might be able to do something custom.

I have to idea. try to reach out TTT since there content is similar, maybe they’re using a certain method 🤷🏻‍♂️

I think this must be a new model they are enforcing because I have seen creators complain recently. Jon Denton has had the same problem and he posts his videos with Dropbox. I would get in contact with him and see what his solution is. I believe he is in the process of transferring his videos over to Dropbox now and reposting them. Dropbox is actually nice because it allows you to actually turn the video horizontal on the Patreon app which isn’t a big deal but it’s annoying lol. For most videos on Patreon I have to go through safari to play the videos because it works that way for some reason. Hope you can get it figured out without too much hassle!

Khaleel Hume

I'll look into Dropbox 👍

Bob_the_Poppop

Unlisted is a great idea, but videos that are blocked are still not viewable when unlisted. It's a full block by YouTube.

Bob_the_Poppop

this happened to channel 5's patreon about a month ago and i believe h3h3 had a similar issue – if your uploads are going to vimeo through patreon's upload service patreon should take care of it since it's the platform supported by patreon. otherwise if you're uploading to vimeo directly then sharing the links here i'm not sure what recourse you have tbh. but yeah, they've been doing this to a bunch of channels recently. it may be worth it to just switch platforms but i would research what some of the channels i mentioned did

jeff

i’m not sure about any of this type of stuff but is it possible to upload the videos to youtube and have them unlisted so that only people with the link from patreon can see them

Vervanta

Actually he’s using Dropbox links to do albums and stuff*

Ja’Kari Bullock

Others creators I’m subbed to on Patreon have had this same issue. They either went the route of posting to YouTube unlisted or Dropbox. Dropbox seems like the best solution of the two.

Rigo Ceballos

Jon Denton is going through the same problem with Dailymotion I think he is doing the unlisted YouTube videos now
