I really love what they did with Fix You, because the rappers doing harmony with the vocalists is amazing and something wonderful to see. I’m glad they stuck to the original song with the long instrumental break because the original is so good and heartfelt. It’s a song that is more about what it says and how you feel than showing off what you can do.

The point of this cover was to share a message with people, as an attempt to offer hope to others in the way that it had them more than to change it into something that feels more like "look what WE can do with this song". Especially considering how important and personal the message of this song is to Chris Martin, to the extent that they are actually quite selective when allowing other artists to cover it. It seems like all of these things really informed their choices.
