Early Access: Cleaning the 20L5

Thank you! These almost always need some level of cleaning. I do have some allergic reaction to dust and pollen so I always like to have dust out of my life too. Thanks for sharing your experience. Are you on our discord?

Hey, I love these videos cleaning, thank you! This is mainly why I joined. I loved the video with the JVC TV you cleaned. I wanted to say, I have a strong indoor allergy that really kicks up around these old pieces of equipment. I even bought a new old stock LCD display recently that I wanted and had trouble with it. Finally this last week I broke down and disassembled that display and cleaned it - successfully for me. Comparatively, I broke it down a bit further than you do here, every piece by piece, including removing the power supply, inverter board, and the video processing board. I used a combination of a paste of baking soda and water, and then followed up with Dr Bronner's Sal Suds. Then, I dried it piece by piece with a powered hand blower and followed up with a hair dryer. I reassembled it with phenomenal results, it showed me just how dirty these things get for me. I'd like to try this on a PC CRT monitor, but I'm a little nervous about the yoke area. Although maybe not healthy for the equipment, I have proof now that getting the PCBs wet might not be an instant death knell, but I'm more concerned about anything like that around the yoke.
