Early-bird: Apple Macintosh Floppy Gear Repair & Refurb!

Update: Added drive head screw drive lubing & R2-D2 fun near the end!

Dear Supporters

Due to this being a lot more complex than it may look, I thought I wasn't going to get a video to you guys this week, but somehow a video has come together! Rejoice! What is about 20 seconds of the video discussing some capacitor issues, was in reality a couple of painful days troubleshooting & researching on forums that I won't bore you with in the end product. Phew!

Please enjoy your early access, and thank you for your continued support!

P.S. I usually like to get videos to you lovely people on Thursdays but I'm finding I'm putting more & more time into videos as the weeks go on, plus more work on other side prep for future video projects. So Friday delivery might become more common, as I feel that quality & future goodies over speed of delivery is something you'll appreciate, and I thank you for your continued support! :)

Many thanks! I'll add this to the video.

So there are two screws that hold the rail on the one side. But technically you don’t even need to. The other side has a screw drive. You just need to clean as much of the old grease off as you can and apply new. Then move the head back gently you turning the screw drive shaft. Some fine pliers works well to get it started. You just need to move it enough that you can clean it and make sure it’s not stuck.

That is true I did not. What is the correct method for that?

Ok. Great video. However I did not see you lubricate the drive head. I have had drives fail to read or write if the head couldn’t move freely. However that chirping that came later looks like a power supply issue which could be caps. It could also be a diode or a transistor.
