Blog: 1Up Cards, Mario Kart Script, and Car Troubles! (09/12/22 - 09/16/22)

It's time for another exciting week at Gaming Historian HQ. Well, not really - I'm mostly writing. But soon, a wonderful video will bloom from these words.

I'm gonna change the format up this week and just cover the highlights. Lets begin!

Gaming Historian 1Up Cards

I'd like to start by announcing there are now officially licensed Gaming Historian 1Up Cards!

If you are unfamiliar with 1Up Cards, they are my favorite way to clean cartridge-based games. I've been using them since they came out. The company that makes them approached me last year and asked if I was interested in doing a collaboration. I agreed to do it on one condition - my cut of the profit should go to the Video Game History Foundation.

So if you want an easy way to clean your old games and support video game history, these are a great option!

Super Mario Kart Script is Revised!

Some days, I struggle to write even a paragraph. But other times, the words just pour out of me. This week, the words poured out of me. I'm pretty happy with my revisions and I think this script is ready for an editing session.

Right now, I'm estimating this to be a 1-hour long episode. But after edits, that could change. I'm pumped!

Car Troubles

Ok, this isn't actually my car. But anyway...

Last month, I was visiting my Grandma in Michigan, driving her to the grocery store. My mom was in the backseat and she commented that my car was "awfully loud." I guess I never really noticed!

As a precaution, I took my car in to the shop this week to see if there was anything going on. Well wouldn't you know it - the wheel bearings need to be replaced. Apparently hitting potholes can mess those up. So I have a scheduled appointment next week to get those fixed. The bill is high, but at least my car will be safe to drive.

It's probably pure coincidence I have car issues while making a Mario Kart video...right?

Have a great weekend everyone!

- Norm
