Blog: Part 4: The Final Frontier (04/11/22 - 04/15/22)

Monday, April 11th

It's time to finalize part 3. I got about halfway done today. I added background music, adjusted the pacing, and filled in some missing shots. I scoured through a ton of newspaper archives to find some photos for this section. I found a REALLY good one for part 4 as well.

Tuesday, April 12th

Part 3 is DONE! I'm so thrilled I was able to finalize this so quickly. I'll jump immediately into part 4 tomorrow. Part 4 is the shortest section, but it also includes the conclusion, which I am very, very picky about. I always try to end my videos strong.

After that, I just have to film the intro, and this project is ready for viewing on Patreon! I'd love to give you guys around three days for general feedback before I finalize the video and send it out for audio mixing.

Wednesday, April 13th

Busy day. I recorded the narration for Part 4, the conclusion, and the introduction. I also started editing part 4. The section begins with a story about a toy store that got early shipments of the Super Nintendo. So I wanted to film some b-roll of someone opening a package of Super Nintendo boxes.

The problem was, I couldn't find a damn box BIG ENOUGH for the Super Nintendo! So I had to do some camera trickery and give the illusion that it was a big box. Don't tell anyone!

Thursday, April 14th

Still grinding part 4. I spent HOURS looking for a commercial today. I did find a copy on YouTube, but the quality was just abysmal. Turns out I had a copy myself, downloaded 12 years ago, that was good quality!

Friday, April 15th

Holy moly, the rough edit of part 4 is done! Rather than finalize, I went ahead and started on the conclusion. I can finalize both at the same time.

I am on track to have a rough draft done by April 21st! It honestly doesn't feel real. I have been working on this for so long, it felt like this was just my new full-time gig: forever making a Super Mario World documentary.

I'll be working through the weekend, but I hope you all have a great Easter (if you celebrate)!
