Happy new year!

I'm looking forward to 2016, since 2015 was so good. A lot of that was down to you guys, so I hope you realise how grateful I am! :) Anyway, here's a little sneak peek of my slightly new version of Twyla for her sequel. (After she got out of the tower.) I've been rendering a lot since the new replacement PC arrived, and it hasn't had any problems so far.

EDIT: I'm actually starting to think that Iray doesn't work very well with 'looking-down-the-barrel-of-the-camera' angled shots. I think it makes expressions that would probably work okay in another shot look unnatural. While I don't think this picture is the most egregious example (I've made some truly horrifying test shots), the problem has certainly cropped up before. LMI had a bunch of those style of shots, but that was rendered in 3Delight.

The up-side is I actually don't plan to pose Let Me Out in quite the same way. I have a framing in mind that should mean that this issue doesn't come up so much, because I don't really expect to be using the 'down-the-barrel' perspective any more.

Ultimately it's probably worth just seeing this as a display of the newly modified Twyla character model. I've had to make several changes that you probably won't detect in order to make her look better in Iray, as well as a couple of more obvious changes. Most obviously her vagina is now a proper prop that looks a bit more convincing, and she's got flowers in her hair (something I plan to acknowledge in the backstory). On a more subtle level I had to change her skin tone a little to make her less chalky-looking, I made some tweaks to her facial features (because Iray's shadowing made them look different) and I had to change a bunch of rendering settings so that she wouldn't look like she was made out of plastic.

Happy new year!

Comments

Yes, I agree. I'll edit in some comments about that above.

Agreed. The expression seems wooden, almost doll-like. Everything else looks good though!

Really? Well, don't worry, it's just a temporary shot. Maybe her eyes/eyebrows need a little more expression. It's often difficult to get that absolutely right in Iray. EDIT: Oh, and I do appreciate you telling me. I can always use feedback on that kind of thing, since recognising the uncanny valley effect is subtle and a little subjective.

BBBen

I find her expression kind of creepy. Don't know why...
