Updates

So! Quick cool updates:

Hoping to have Roehm to Ruin dialogue all recorded and final testing done this month! Once we get it polished up and made sure everything runs well, we get it out the door.... finally.  I'm done working on Colossal Cave now so this is my primary focus!

A cool small but fun development is that James Mulvale has been working with AI voice training.... and we're working on getting a working AI voice for a Gary Owens style narrator for our Space Quest II r...

2023

Hey guys! I know I have been quieter here for months - I've been knee-deep in working on Colossal Cave... which is coming out on Thursday!  I hope people like it - I had a great time working on it, working with Ken & Roberta along with a lot of other great folks... seriously, it was good to hear old-school stories about Sierra straight from the man himself.  I had to pinch myself, because for almost every day over the last 8 months, I talked to Ken! The man has great stories - a...

April Updates

If you hadn't heard the news yet - I'm working with Ken & Roberta Williams on Colossal Cave 3D Adventure for the next few months! It was a really humbling and awesome experience to get a phone call from Ken, inviting me onto the team.  It's been fun working with him, Roberta and the whole team they have assembled there.  Really, I have to reign in my excitement.  I'm literally doing what I wanted to do when I was 12 years old!  There will be more info about that coming...

Infamous Questing

March continues!

I'm still plugging away at the list of voices needed to finish Roehm to Ruin.  There are a few left that I still need to cast and record, but they're smaller parts.  There are several that are recorded; I just need to edit/splice the lines into individual files to implement into AGS.

This is it, though. When this stuff is done... we can move into that final test...

Wot's going on this week

Well, this Friday, 3/4/22 (or 4/3/22 for you weirdos who like the DAY first, hah), our first game, Quest for Infamy, launches on the Xbox, PS4/5 and the Nintendo Switch! What a crazy time to be alive! I've been playing it on my Switch for the past few days... it's kind of amazing to see.  The version used to port it is v2.0, as well, so it has some stuff people haven't seen unless they've played the 2.0 beta available on Steam! I'm going to be working to make sure the PC versions play bu...

Quest for Infamy 2

Well hey, Patrons!

I just wanted to write a quick update right now, and I'll be getting into more depth later and will be talking about development on here throughout, but recently Shawn, Broomie and I have started work on Quest for Infamy 2.

We've long had requests for it - and I've had a story treatment for it since 2014... and instead of sitting upon our ideas, we've started slowly building the game.  Shawn's been working on the game engine - which is just an updated versi...

Infamous Questing!

Hey folks! Just a quick update!

I'm still finishing editing and implementing the voice recordings for Roehm to Ruin, but we're in the final stretch!! Pretty soon this should be done... I'm excited.  I'm also hoping to have this game available, at launch, for not only PC/Steam/Mac/Linux.... but also for consoles as well!  I've partnered with Raitalaika Games to port our games to the console market - Nintendo Switch, Xbox and Playstation.  Quest for Infamy should be coming ...

Infamous Quest Updates

Hey friends,

Well - here's a little update in the world of IQ stuff....

Quest for Infamy - Roehm To Ruin

I've actually done a bunch of work with RtR this week. I spent a LOT of time cutting up lines from the raw recordings for a bunch of characters, editing for volume, etc. and implementing them in the AGS engine! We have so many characters voiced now... there's still more to go, though.  Recording sessions with Steve Patrick, voice of Roehm, will continue next...

Recording Roehm!

I'm scheduling up recording times with Steve Patrick, the voice actor of Mr. Roehm for "Quest for Infamy: Roehm to Ruin"! Finally, we can finish up, and get these recordings in the game.  Most of the other roles are recorded already - some need to be cut and edited and implemented, but many are already in.  Once we get these, we're going to need to test the game....a lot... to make sure it all works, but once that's over... it's go time for release.  I am thinking Feb 2022, but...

Updates and Hello!

Hey all!!

I was reminded today by a friend to do an update on here - it's been a while, and I apologize.  Life has been busy for me on other fronts, so things got away from me here.

But we're still plugging away! I recently fixed the gigantic bug I was having in Roehm to Ruin with linking voice files to the right text lines.... and it works!! So we're finishing up cutting, editing and implementing lines in the game! I have to finish recording Mr. Roehm's lines wi...

January 2021 - The Start of the Year of IQ!

Well, folks... twenty twenty one is going to be our year! We're gonna have some games out! It's exciting to think of.  It's been a long time coming - much longer than I'd like, but the ensuing years have seen jobs/careers, family, illness and tragedy suck more time away from this than most of us would like.  I often muse on how much free time I had as a younger man to do this kind of stuff. Now, finding a couple hours each night can be tough! But we're doing it

We've been edit...

The Order of the Thorne

So we've been working on the second game in The Order of the Thorne, but in doing so - we've decided to make the game we wanted to make, not the game we thought people might want.  With the first OotT, we tried to make a "family friendly" game like King's Quest.  Thing is, though - families don't play adventure games any more.  The people playing our games are grown, mature people - most of them in their 30s,40s and 50s.  Our original intent for OotT was to be a bit more m...

Welcome to September!

Welcome to September, Infamous Quests patrons!  Summer is over in the Northern Hemisphere and we're headed into FALL and this Fall belongs to IQ! We've got so much going on! We should be finishing up Roehm to Ruin and moving on to finishing OotT:Fortress of Fire!! In addition, work has resumed at a good clip on The Secret Project... I'm excited about what's coming!

Keep your eyes here and I'll be posting more updates, getting links to early testing builds of games, etc.  Thank...

Patreon Merch!

Patreon recently started offering merch for their creators - so I signed up, and now every tier over $20 gets a free Infamous Quests logo sticker!  They take care of making, printing and shipping - which is great for me, and you can get some fun swag for helping support us!

They have other merch to offer too, which I may do too - T-Shirts, mugs, etc.  We'll see. I'll start with stickers!

Updates!

Well, hey there loyal patrons of Infamous Quests!

Just some quick updates for us, so let's dive in!

QFI:ROEHM TO RUIN

We're still recording and editing voice files, but it's getting closer! When these are all done, we're going to have to test the game a bunch to make sure there's no bugs and all the voice files go with the correct lines! Yay! Tedious, but hey, it makes for a fun game - honestly, for me, half the fun is hearing some of this crazy dialogue performed by people ...

Update

Hey guys, I know I haven't had any significant updates in a few weeks: it's been a rough time.  I was in the hospital a bunch, and I'm trying to get used to a new life as a single dad, and having my kids have the time.  Honestly, it's been really depressing and I've been in a funk and that really affects me creatively. I haven't had the drive that I normally do for all this... I think as my health improves, I get the passion back more.

But I appreciate the support and e...

Horizons

Hey patrons! Well, it's been a great week behind the scenes; we've gotten a lot of work done on our games, and I just get excited when we have these little pushes.

In indie development, things happen in weird paces - at the start of a project, there's all kinds of buzz - ideas flow, things happen, bits get made... but you can only do so much because you're doing this kind of dev in the time you have.  Most everyone who has or does work on an IQ game has other jobs or res...

Making Games and Updates

I swear this week, I'm gonna figure out live streaming and maybe stream some Dev stuff.  And walk around that KQ3 source!

Been working on cutting up voice files for Roehm to Ruin. Going to try and schedule a time to get voice actor Steve Patrick over to record the lines for Mr. Roehm.  Steve voiced him in the original QFI, and he's super talented.  I'm excited to see him again.

I know James Broom was working on the design doc for Order of the Thorne too - we're work...

KQIII Gold - Unfinished

Years back, we were going to do an update to our 2006 remake of King's Quest III - entitled KQIII GOLD, it would have just been a little polish on our first attempt.  We got busy with other projects like QFI, so we cancelled it.  But I still have the source code and there's fun bits in it.  In the future, I'm going to do a live stream where I go through it and share bits of it.

Weekend Work

It's been a quiet day at home here, so I've been working.  People have been sending in more recordings for the voice acting in QFI:RtR, so I've been organizing up some of that  - listening to tracks, cutting and editing them for in-game use. Shawn has edited a bunch of them too - ready to be put in the AGS engine.  It's coming together; I hope to have this done and tested by Summers end. Which means we could have a fall release for QFI:RtR.  I'm going to have to try and pl...

An Infamous Update!

Hey patrons!

Well, here's some updates from the IQ camp.

I uploaded the beta of QFI v2.0 to Steam! You can access it via the properties window of the game and then under the "betas" tab! It's been very cool, people have given some nice feedback.  Work continues on the port to the Switch, I'm told from the publish, so that's cool!

More and more voices have come in for QFI:Roehm to Ruin! Honestly, it's been your patronage that has helped to pay these voice actors, s...

Game Dev: Order of the Thorne

The Order of the Thorne: The King's Challenge was our second major game released. It's no big secret that this game started out as something different - we were originally making a fan game - King's Quest, Kingdom of Sorrow - based on one of the paperback novels licensed and released under the KQ name.  While making it, we decided it would be better to sink all the effort into something we owned and could release so we took out the King's Quest characters and locations and kept the origi...

Weekly Update

Well, it's a crazy world out there now, huh? I hope everyone is staying as safe as they can.  Having to be indoors a lot, I've been working on our projects a bunch.  Even though I've worked a bunch, it's still not as much as I'd like!! Every now and then as I'm coding, I day dream that a bunch of us would be in an office, working, drawing, coding away, all together and getting these games out fast! Hah!

Anyway, there's lots of cool stuff going on - in RtR I am getting voice wo...

Quest for Infamy v2.0 beta

Whew. I feel like I got so many things to work on.  Cause I do!  I'm still working on getting v2.0 of Quest for Infamy ready - it'll be uploaded to Steam, GoG, Humble & Itch as normal, but the big thing for me is that this version will be ported to Nintendo Switch.  I'm real excited to have a game of ours on console, and frankly I wanna play QFI on my own Switch!  The company that's porting it is also going to do some of our other games - they'll handle the porting, ta...

Weekly Updates

Big D (Doug Baxter) has been kind enough to play the beta of QFI v2.0 and man, did he ever find some good bugs! I am very thankful for this kind of help - I can only play these games so much and miss too many things on my own!  But QFI v2.0 is coming along nicely.

I haven't done any Order of the Thorne: FoF work this last week - been too focused on QFI 2.0 and Frogsheen.  So many projects, not enough time.

Sorry this isn't more interesting, but hopefully the games will b...

Big News and QFI 2.0

Hey guys! Well, this isn't public yet and I still have to go over the contract and details, but a company is going to port Quest for Infamy to the NINTENDO SWITCH, PS4 and XBOXONE! This is our first console release, so I'm trying to polish up Quest for Infamy 2.0 for that release.  It needs some work and testing, so if you're interested in testing the beta, let me know!

I'm very excited about this - having an adventure game on a console is cool, let alone it being my game!  I ...
