I don't remember which chapter but in one of the pre chapter quotes I think it was Viv that mentions how Ray and Aria "visit" her and Grant but don't bring souvenirs. She doesn't say it outright but she says something along the lines of it sounds like an awful way to travel" which to me implies he gets to the point where he can jump planets and maybe even whole systems and bring people with him.

It is the first time with an S that's been described, but it's also implied that he's worked with claire de soto who is an S as well

That is exactly what Dyrk Reese was worried about. There's already a secret-squirrel squad of S-ranked users that use the threat of violence to keep other powerful users in line. Rei's teleportation is only line of sight right now, but if he gets to S-rank with it as it is, he could literally be uncontainable. And abilities usually get more powerful/useful as the users adapt to using them. I'm wondering if Rei and his squaddies will become powerful enough to overthrow the quasi-fascist government when it inevitably tries to subjugate them into another set of weapons/tools of state power and how that will interplay with the looming timeline for being defeated by the aliens.

When Rei first fought Aria she was 2 ranks higher than him. He went up from an E3 to an E4. Kalus is at least 3 ranks higher than Rei. Given the way Shido reacts I’d expect Rei to hit the Bs after sparing with his first S….

He escaped Bretz's hold with it in book 2. But probably future TS version will let him take someone since the Viv anecdote mentioned that he jumps with others in the future.

Nah, the salute is much more in character. Military college, and Rei has been there long enough for a salute to be automatic for someone he respects. Awesome rewrite btw

Love the redesigned chapter! I liked the idea of stored charges but I think it’s a bit overpowered this soon definitely something I could see when he’s A or S rank. Also just love the what the from calist when Ray runs the other way for the hit on the lancer. It’s a good way to pivot that ya they fight best as a team cause there was the instinctual shift to allow for him to be in full blind side for it

Everytime he hits, and bounces off the reflective shielding I keep thinking Shido will adapt to a once per combat Omega ability to penetrate all shielding for one hit. Doesn't have to be a FDA hit, but just a solid hit to scare the opponent into thinking he can do it more than once.

If recall serves me correctly, when Rei was training with instructor Brits after coming from sectionals. Brits had him in a restricted hold, Rei TS behind him. From this prospective Brits didn't shift with him, even though in direct contact.

I liked both versions put forth, but the redo is more inline with the technical rules governing the 'TS' ability at present. That said, I'm seriously interested in the enactment of the ' emergency medical protocols'. Seems like shido may take over an injured area or introduce nerve pain block for the user (Rei) to continue to fight. WICKED!!!

Hmmm, one question that the axed chapter posed I was really hoping would get answered: What happens if Rei is touching someone when he Steps? Oh well, perhaps it will get poked at in a future chapter. Either way, thanks mate!
