Poll on budget shifting for Personal Use?
Added 2023-08-23 00:21:23 +0000 UTCHi everyone, for the past five years since this Patreon has been up, I've tried my absolute hardest to avoid using any Patreon money for personal use. Any money spent has gone to anything that can be functionally traced back to helping the channel and its content (plugins, books, equipment, subscriptions for hosting, etc). Conversely, I've tried to catalogue everything as transparently as possible.
As some of you know, I recently lost my contract due to a set of circumstances, and while working on the Persona 4 video, I am presently looking for work. It has not been a great search. I am opening up the floor to ask if people are comfortable with the possibility of me using Patreon funds for personal use (it will be earmarked as personal) should the need arise. I am a pretty frugal person, so I have a decent amount of personal money saved up, so I do not foresee needing to use it anytime soon. However, I want to ask and ensure people are okay with it before doing anything.
Any personal use comes after making sure any outstanding payments are made. That means it is after I pay anyone for their help, after any bills regarding the site, and after any materials needed. It is working with what is left.
Since people might feel uncomfortable expressing concerns for something that is ostensibly very personal to me (nobody wants to be seen as the "bad guy"), I've created a poll using one of those scaling polls. The question is:
I am okay with Joe using part of the available Patreon budget for personal use.
If the sentiment leans disagreement, I will not do it, I'll just bite the bullet, this isn't one of those trap "I'm asking for feedback and not do anything" kinda polls.

Whoever owns the channel should make sure that this worker is financially compensated for all of the labor that goes into running the channel.
