Working towards better tracks - input and thoughts?
Added 2018-06-03 21:16:35 +0000 UTCHi everyone, I'm posting this here as well in the Discord, so if you haven't checked out the Discord channel yet, please do so!
I'm thinking of subscribing to Artlist. It's a 199/yr subscription that gives access to royalty-free music. So why this and not just any other place? The reason why is because (a) it's geared specifically for video production, so it has a lot of tracks that should theoretically take some music composing stress off of Skrullz, and (b) it is appreciably different from the stock Youtube/FMA/incompetech music archives that are really hit-and-miss.
If you've been keeping an eye on the content log, you might notice that Skrullz (my partner) has been composing some of the music in a lot of recent videos to better suit my narration and content-type. Check out some of the wonderful work he did in the Shadows of Fukushima video, for example. Since the content has been shifting to more custom music (Skrullz has been composing about 60-75% of the music in newer videos), I want to make sure that the other 25-50% aren't left to just stock audio, which will hopefully make the content come off as a bit more polished. Here, Artlist would theoretically give us access to music that could mesh a bit better with a lot of the content we're working on.
Lemme know what your thoughts are, and if there's a good amount of folks who don't think this is a good investment, I'll reconsider!
