Patreon Update - March 4th 2024

Goooooood morning beautiful Patreon family,

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend! Over the course of the last few days I have become suitably obsessed with Dune (thanks to all those who recommended!!!) so I have spent this weekend watching the first film twice, going to the cinema to watch the second film and starting to read the books 📚

I can't remember If I've said already on Patreon but my first piece of exciting news is that my birthday trip to NYC and Fort Lauderdale is now booked and I am so excited to spend some time in NYC as I've not been for 10 years and then spend time with Reiss and all my ship friends over my birthday down in Florida!

We are now only ONE WEEK away from the final season of Young Royals and I couldn't be more excited. I'll be working hard to get the rest of season 2 up for you this week so we all feel good going into season 3. 

The main thing I want to address in today's update is Discord:

The Discord community is absolutely thriving and has become such a wonderful and supportive space but I have noticed that less than 1/3 of Patreon members have joined us over there.

I have decided that Discord is going to be my main source of reaching out and connecting to this community in real time so from today onwards I am going to ask that people join us over there to share and talk all things Heartstopper, YR, Skam, Druck, Musicals, Films, Books etc etc.

To paint a picture: day to day I can receive up to 500 notifications across different socials and when it's an announcement or a trailer or something like that it can be even higher and I am struggling to keep on top of it anymore and I feel like it means I'm having less of a meaningful connection with you all.

If you don't wish to join us on Discord - I get it. It's another social media to navigate and has been an adjustment for me to get used to (though I'm now wondering how I ever lived without it!) but from today on I am going to ask that people use Discord and share with the community to send updates about our favourite shows/actors/books etc instead of sending to me directly.

The only caveat is that I do still want people to feel like they can DM me and chat... just if we can limit the post/news being sent via DM then I can fully concentrate on meaningful chat and connection with you all.

Anyway that's enough rambling for a Monday - I am off to continue planning what Broadway shows I am going to see 😭
