Just thinking out loud but have you considered doing some low-fi old school (iphone/lavaliere mic) maybe snippet/short bites type content in the interim where you may not have access to your friends studio or the time to make it happen. We all love the uber high quality of your work but sometimes going back to the basics here and there isn't such a bad thing. Kind of like your original "walk to grove".
