Nov 2017 Q&A: Part 01

Car accidents suck. I've had three, only one of which involved me actually being in my car. Not counting the four times I've had to replace a windshield due to road debris or the time a tire retread hit my wife's car on the interstate. I've never read any Stephen King. I think a lot of it is that there is sort of that misconception concerning his writings because of the popularity of his horror writing (Not really a genre I'm into myself). I really appreciate you mentioning is autobiography, it definitely sounds like one I need to pick up. It is definitely evident that you believe in showing others care as if they were you. I think the biggest problem with the idea of treating others as if they were you is that so many people hold so much self loathing that many people do care for others as much as they do themselves, but their self-image is shit. And a lot of that is kind of molded by our circumstances and how we are treated by others. A little compassion goes a long way, but I think so many of us experience so little compassion in our lives, that there are a lot of us that end up treating others better than we treat ourselves simply out of the fact that we've been made to feel like we are worth less than others. I love how the process of creating these fantasies for your listeners is also a way for you to live out your own fantasies. I think it says something about your character that you still have those momentos of your fine dining experience from your 13th birthday. Totally agree about how the jump from never having to study to being in college can be like slamming into a brick wall. That was quite a wall for me, especially in my sophomore year of college, or as I call it, the year my GPA died and HOPE was lost. Love the Christmas can! My extended family uses like this wicker bread basket thing. The in-laws designated me to run the family draw on Elfster. Having in-laws spread around the world on military service (one brother-in-law about 2 and half hour drive away, the other roughly an 18 hour flight away), doing the online draw makes that a bit easier. This year will actually be the first where both of my wife's brothers will be home together for Christmas in 4 years. Thank God for Skype for the last 3 years! Totally get the hilarity of the gag gifts. When my step-dad's mom was still alive, his whole family would do Christmas at her house. I think the PC term for what we'd do there was the White Elephant Christmas, where each person would bring a random gift, and each person drew a number. Lowest number chose first. Then the next person could choose a gift someone else had opened, or could choose an unopened one and open it. If someone took your gift, you immediately got to take another, also either one that someone else had opened already (except the one just taken from you) or an unopened one. I had that one uncle that would always do some gag. One time, it was a giant pair of santa boxers (like an 80 inch waist or something...) with a picture of him wearing them and a check for $25 (our full gift limit). Man, New Year's hasn't been the same since Dick Clark died. And I miss having to have a bedtime... and naps... and blanket tents... No dancing, man, were you the preacher's daughter from Footloose? When mom was single, the only networks that I think I even knew existed were MTV (back in the Martha Quinn era) and Nickelodeon, so I grew up with dancing to the early 80's classics. I hate the crap we deal with here with insurance. My wife is having to have her second surgery of this year tomorrow, and honestly, it probably could have been taken care of with her first one if insurance would have paid for it then. Thank you for sharing your vegan story with us. It was so emotional, the journey you've gone through with it and all of the facets of your life it has affected. I had kind of been curious about how much of your work on eSensual had been your original scripts. I'm glad to hear that you've been able to do so much of your own writing on there. Can't wait for your next release over there! Sorry for your aversion to sitcoms...lol. Friends has sorta permeated into my brain lately due to spousal binge watching. I actually pictured you as Pheobe. Watching the whole series now, I don't really think she's that ditzy compared to the rest; in someways I see her as ahead of the rest of them. She was definitely the most emotionally mature. Nice scary sexy growl :) I think on the heart/head decision making, there's a lot of us whose day jobs completely contradict our natural inclinations on decision making. I'm in this very analytic, very methodical line of work, but outside of that, I've always been a heart-led person. I will say self-employment as a small business here is near impossible. Anyone making that decision in our country in my eyes is extremely brave and confident in themselves. A ramble too long? Never! lol
