Uncle Burney is definitely delivering on the Heatwaves lately...

(Obligatory mention of how it's hot like, everywhere on earth right now.)

Anyway, I thought I wrote a devlog about how we changed up Burney's design for a second time, but apparently not, so free real estate here!

Burney's original design was really cool, but it also become one of the first designs to get an overhaul when we looked at how we could simplify our animation pipeline.

Notably, his cool shoes were a problem! We could have simplified just that, but then there was the belt, and the letters on his hat. We felt like getting rid of all of that would take away from the charm, so we went with another pass:

For this design, we tried to dial in more into the Uncle vibe, but might have shot for it too much. We also wanted to bring back more of the "warm" colors (although, we went with bleached yellow to allude to sunlight)

And then finally, we arrived to a more rounded face, body, and made him more friendly-looking overall! The color combo I'm really proud of, and we really managed to bring some of the energy from his original design back!
