Girl Genius Comic for Wednesday, September 20, 2023

This page exists for that image of Agatha riding a giant winged rat. Just so you understand.

Phil has a LOT of tomatoes. He's made a huge pot of sauce, stuck a lot of just tomato slurry in the freezer, and now he's got the dehydrator out and is making tomato chips. THEY'RE SO GOOD! He's also drawn a couple more kitties for you folks.

I continue to try to work out how to sell original art. I also still have to do those press releases. And keep shipping Kickstarter. And get the pins and medals crowdfund planned so I can try out a Kickstarter alternative in a low-risk way. That last one will also hopefully help keep us afloat until I've finished the International shipping and can do a proper new book campaign for Volume 21. This year wasn't kind. Feh. Once I'm done here I'm off to write up a proper Kickstarter update, and then it's back downstairs to the book mines! I'll of course post again when the colors come in.

In an attempt to make Patreon more fun for everyone, we've been thinking of doing some kind of monthly Patreon exclusive stream. I think Patreon is even set up to do that, I'm not sure. I'll have to look into it. Uh...let us know what you might be interested in hearing us talk about! We do have a giant whiteboard, so we'll break that out and give Phil a pen.

Also, I have a new wallpaper featuring the Castle and Train playing the game!

As usual, it's in various sizes for you to download:

Tiny Gamers:

1600x1200

1920x1080

2560x1600

and for devices and phones:

600x800

1024x1024

Or, you can download a zipped archive file of all of them!

I hope you like it!

For what it's worth, I already upped my pledge a bunch the LAST time they had a "cash flow" problem, which was pre-covid. So I agree with the principle but don't feel I have to do it again, since I've been supporting them at an increased rate all along. (Not saying I'm their sole support or anything; I give them $15/month. But my usual webcomic subscription rate is $3/month.)

Just upped my pledge a bit, too. I look forward to each new page. I hope others will pitch in too.

Also, I just read the post a bit more closely. I just doubled my pledge here. It's not a huge amount but we can afford to share a bit more, and GG is such a source of delight in my life. (and as mentioned before, my kids absolutely adored the Franz story) Also, without casting judgment on other comics, almost every single other web comic I read has had to take a break or scale back page production because of burnout, health issues, some kind of life crisis, or otherwise. And this includes people like Isa and Meg at Namesake who were absolute metronomes in the past but have been forced to scale back too. The fact that y'all crank out three pages a week, through COVID, through upheaval in the comics industry, is just incredible, in the true sense of the word that I find it difficult to believe how you do it.
