Nursing the dead

Her days she spends taking care of the house, as well as occasionally being a support and comfort to her daughter.

Her nights she spends at the City Hospital's morgue. A place often gladly forgotten by many, but never empty, always a safe place to bring the bring the bodies left behind by those who recently left this world.
No matter one of the hundreds of patients from above, or having happened entirely somewhere else. No matter why, or how, this is the one place for all of them.
As a result, there is always work, always a service to done to the deceased and their relatives.
"So when I say everywhere, then trust me, I mean everywhere..."
"N-Nagi...everything alright?"
"Oh! ... y-yeah! Sorry. I was just drifting off, thinking of my daughter again. Sorry."
"Ah, Nishi is having her surgery soon isn't she? I get it, don't worry."
"No, I really shouldn't be thinking too much about stuff, I got a habit of doing that."
"World's Nr. 1 mom, huh? No more rambling by me now. Instead...How about you grab a pair of gloves and then that cute young guy from next door and bring him in?"
"Will do."
("I guess I'm really more scared of my daughter's operation then she is herself...How...")
("Nah, NEVER could I be more scared of things than my adorable girl. My only fear should be that she likes the hospital's food better than mine.")

*giggles* "Very clear. Where would you like him?"
"Number one's occupied. Just slide him in right here in 3. He can chill there and I'll get to him in just a moment."
"Alright."
"There we go, Sir. Right in here please."
"I gotta go for big girls. Don't worry ma'am, I'll be right back and in the meantime my very nice colleague will swab you a little. Right, Nagi?"
"Yes, doc."
"Lovely."

"Time and time again I'm surprised by how young and good looking some of you are.
Sudden cardiac arrest, huh? How odd...And you even lived for two more days in the ICU...What a shame.
And it looks like they even gave you a thoracotomy...possibly...Well, the doctor might give you a few more tonight.

Well, I can certainly tell you that this young man had to have his catheter removed among other things, as he had been spending over two days in the ICU before ultimately passing away. Before that he had even been narrowly rescued from his sudden cardiac arrest and survived an emergency heart surgery to stabilize him. However despite all those efforts, it actually was clear that he couldn't live without a new heart and getting one so quickly and in his condition was about impossible. It certainly was a hard time for his family.

Many educational autopsies are carried out, but yes, also medical physical training is done on corpses, like simulating surgical procedures. On top of that, as you know, in my universe the soul of the deceased is still very much around for quite some time.

I could only really tell the story in text so far though, as I have other stuff I've been looking to do for longer now. And concerning further scenes in the morgue, don't be sad. I left it open for now on purpose so I can do other stuff and also collect the best ideas. If you have any then bring them forth.

I wonder if there is interested in the story of how the young man ended up here for example. Regarding more things taking place in the morgue, I don't have any particular things in mind at the moment.
