This week Peter & Lloyd hosted another chat session in the ERB Discord server. Here is a recap of what was discussed.
Peter kicked off discussing the writing for Indiana Jones vs Lara Croft. They have "restructured the verses, made them a little longer, cut a lot of fat, added some meat, made some jokes more clear, grouped references together". The writing is now 99% complete with only a few tweaks left to do. They intend recording the final audio in the next 7-10 days.
He also confirmed that a planned cameo for Drake has been removed as it was "killing the momentum" of the second verse. But there are a couple of Uncharted jokes. And there will be a couple of brief cameos in the battle one of them being Atul playing the Swordsman from the Indiana movie. Pete confirmed they have purchased a hat, shirt, pants and bull whip for Indiana (see photo above).
Peter also confirmed there will be Lara boob jokes but they are done "tastefully". The thinking at the moment is that her look will be based on an anniversary version of Lara wearing the blue shirt. (see photo below) Pete said he had got 3D printed guns for Lara - silver and black in colour. They are toying with having her switch looks in the intro slate, like choosing a character skin in-game.

Lloyd then confirmed that they had cast an actress to play Lara Croft. They used an actual formal open casting website to source candidates which isn't something they normally do. But it's something Lloyd was interested in testing out. The actress isn't British but we think she will be able to adopt a British enough sounding accent for the role and she has some experience of rapping too which is a benefit.
Peter also confirmed that we intend shooting the battle on September 17th & 18th. And they plan to upload the actual battle to YouTube on October 25th but there is a possibility it will be out sooner than that. We will just have to see how the editing process goes. The current plan is that we're going to build Lara's background in Unreal Engine, so it almost has a little bit of a game vibe to it. Potentially a temple in a jungle type setting but final decisions not yet made on that.
They discussed the idea of featuring a boulder in the video and the suggestion was we have Indiana running from the boulder at some point whilst rapping. They would also like to feature the golden idol at some point.
Peter then stated a leather jacket for Indiana had arrived in the post that he had ordered from Pakistan. He opened the package and shared a photo.

Peter then briefly discussed Godzilla vs King Kong. They plan for that to come out in November or December. We now have all the technology setup at the studio for motion capture. It's cost a small fortune to buy everything we needed. Its all new territory for the guys to learn so its been a slow process so far. But they are excited about what it could mean for the future - if this first video is a success.
Due to the complexity of it all it is now highly unlikely they will be able to complete Karl Marx vs Henry Ford before the end of the year. But Pete said they will hopefully have that one done sometime in early 2023. Peter recognised the delay might be disappointing but he said it might break us out of the cycle of only having new episodes at the end of years.
The guys then concluded the chat answering a few random questions and ideas that patrons brought up. Lloyd said he was keen on doing Spiderman vs Peter Pan in the future using motion capture technology. Whilst Red Baron vs White Death remained high on Peter's wish list and he has a love for Sonic The Hedgehog vs Pac-Man.
In terms of Marx vs Ford Peter said he liked a patron's idea to have Ford driving a car in the video. He said there are some Model T rental places in Los Angeles. He said he did not expect so much enthusiasm for Ford vs Marx and was happily surprised it won the recent poll we did in YouTube. Peter stated "we made that poll with a specific goal of doing whatever was top choice right away, so we made them all suggestions we do WANT to make".
Willy Wonka vs Jigsaw was mentioned for the umpteenth time. Peter still loves the idea of doing Wonka in an ERB but is still iffy on Jigsaw. But, he's aware a good slice of patrons love the matchup and it's polled well in the past on YouTube too. He said they would research it more in 2023 and try to develop a demo to see if its something they want to make into an actual ERB video.
Peter ended the chat by saying "we are grateful to your patience, and I'm feeling really confident that it will pay off in the next couple months with some battles that will stand the test of time".
Before leaving Lloyd also stated he would performing in Chicago in December if any patrons are in the area.

Hope you enjoyed the recap. Thanks to everyone who attended.
Plan to have new MakeThisBattle feedback & poll for you this weekend.
