#MakeThisBattle Feedback - Dec 27th

We've probably all had enough turkey to last a lifetime. We've pulled all the crackers. We've ate the last chocolates left in the box. And we now need new trousers to accommodate our new waistlines. But... we'll never get enough of new match-up ideas!!! :)

John Rambo vs John Wick [submitted by Eoghan]

Oooo spicy. Lots of bullets and grenades, always a plus for conflict. I’ve never seen John Wick, but I’ve seen the Matrix and played Call of Duty Zombies, so I feel like I understand the plot. I hear people love them some John Wick. Personally, I’m amazed that we still as a society pretend that Keanu Reaves is not the worst actor in the known cinematic universe. Back to the match-up, Rambo is awesome, John Wick is awesome, I think this really could be a great rap battle. It would be better if they stopped making Rambo movies so it could be part of movie history, but it’s continued meaningless existence as a franchise almost makes for even better jokes. Great suggestion.  

Richard the Lionheart vs Richard Nixon [submitted by purplekiren]

I will entertain any worthwhile suggestion that features Richard Nixon, because I think he’d be a truly great character to see in a battle. He’s got so much, and would be so fun to watch someone play. Is that Lloyd do you think? I feel like it has to be Lloyd as Nixon. Anyway, Richard the Lionheart doesn’t stir any feelings in me whatsoever, but that includes hate. I don’t hate it. Honestly the only thing I do feel about Richard the Lionheart is confusing as to whether or not that’s how you spell his name. Google? Okay, that’s a yes. Looking into Dick the First a little further, I really wish he got disposed or kicked off the throne, that would be such a nice additional tie in to Richard Nixon. Damn. That might have really made this possible. As it is, I think the connection is almost too close (both famous world leaders named Richard) without being actually close enough to make the conflict right. Cool suggestion though.

Ron Burgundy vs Ron Swanson [submitted by The Omega Man]

Lol. Lol. That’s… that’s just far too much moustache. That said!  God that would be funny.  So much contrast between the Rons. There could be a tasty little Harry Potter reference in there somewhere, the characters are amazing. Grade A suggestion, in a world where this could be made, everyone is a little more joyful.

Mike Myers vs Michael Myers [submitted by Zawesome & foggybrume]

Hahaha I’ve always found it so odd that they shared a name. This is funny, and is the right kind of connection by means of no connection at all that could work… but…. doesn’t Michael Myers not talk at all? It just seems off to suddenly have him busting flow. Mike Myers is ripe for insults and references on references on references.  It could be a nice contrast if Michael Myers just spoke in few growling words, he could rip Mike Myers to pieces deftly. But, I don’t think that could work in his character. Creative suggestion, but I rate it… impossibru.

George Lucas vs George Orwell [submitted by JustGamer]

Sometime these makethisbattle sessions make me want to invent an AI that creates ERB videos based on our previous work. This is one of those times. This is an awesome suggestion with some much great material to be mined, but I just don’t have the stomach for the epic journey of it. These are two nice titans of entertainment and sci-fi pioneers in their own right.  

The Lone Ranger vs The Power Rangers [submitted by Octacle]

The Pink Ranger was my first true love, so obviously I also truly love this suggestion. 1 vs 5, is interesting…why not? I guess Lone Ranger by default would have Scarecrow or whatever his old-school racist sidekick was named. Could we just have a different Johnny Depp character be there instead? I think we still have that Edward Scissor hands costumes. Now that’s what I call funny. Anyway, this suggestion makes me happy, because the Pink Ranger makes me happy, and I like the Power Rangers in general.

Cruella De'Ville vs Ace Ventura [submitted by Perkzilla]

This is a very interesting take on the whole “names sound similar” kind of thing. Because looking at the words, they certainly don’t seem similar, but when you say them out loud, something magical happens. Two great characters too. We always used to talk about bringing Ace Ventura in somehow, because Alex who played Justin Bieber did a killer impression. But, it never came to life. I like the contrast, I like the creativity, and I like the idea of costuming this battle. Cool suggestion, and bravo to all. -np

The next round of submissions for #makethisbattle is now open. The theme this time is 'Warmongers'. We are looking for match-ups that feature at least one character that is well known primarily for their great achievements (or spectacular failures) in wars. 

We'll select at least 2 match-up ideas that suit that theme. Same rules apply as normal. Three suggestions per person. You can post them in the comments below, email them to erbpatreon@gmail.com or post them on the Discord server in the dedicated '#make-this-battle' channel.
