#MakeThisBattle Feedback - Dec 4th

Howdy folks! We continue to edit the upcoming December video as fast as we can (it's gonna be another banger!) But nothing gets in the way of this whole makethisbattle process. :) Peter has had a look at some of the ideas you submitted.

Benito Mussolini vs Nero [submitted by Mr Morden]

Oooo. I like this. I took some time to read a book about Mussolini this year, because I really don’t think I knew too much about him or his rise or fall. He’s an interesting figure, and I think a fascinating character. Lots to reference and lots to learn. And versus Nero - not a bad idea at all. He’s another shit Italian leader, I suppose. They are both rich with details.   Burning cities make for great backgrounds. Violins in the beat. I like it. Consider it considered.

Achilles vs Usain Bolt [submitted by mblpns]

The incredible Usain Bolt continues to exist in ERB suggestions! I think I’ve seen his name more than any other current sports figure. And yet, I’ve never really stopped to consider him in an ERB. I’m not really sure why. It’s nothing against Track and Field type athletes. I was mildly obsessed with Carl Lewis when I was a child. Maybe it’s because I wasn’t particularly tuned into Olympics when Mr Bolt was dominating. Is he still dominating. He's probably retired. Either way - this appearance of his name again here in this venue puts him high up on a new list. All that said, don’t we think the larger YouTube audience would be flustered by Bolt going up against anyone other than The Flash? I can’t imagine doing the Flash right now.  Not only have we done almost too many comic book characters already, but if we were to do more, he’s not really on my radar. Again, nothing against the Flash, I was mildly obsessed with him as a child too.  I think I thought I was going to be someone who runs fast. Turning back to Achilles, it’s a strong suggestion overall, with, I dare say, a weak spot.  He’s a Greek mythology figure who’s not Hercules. I think Hercules, love him or hate him, has a viable claim to the throne of next Greek mythical beast. And Greek history contains some more untapped greats too. Bolt = I’m intrigued. Achilles = I’m unconvinced.

Marie Antoinette vs Kim Kardashian [submitted by Dragonsblood23 & Mike J]

Damn you Kim Kardashian. How dare you make it onto this list and how dare you make it into my mind as a “maybe”. I hate that Kim Kardashian is a maybe for an ERB, but she now officially is. She’s real, she’s current, she’s female, she’s fun. Lots of positives. She kind of sucks, but whatever… who doesn’t? Is there a link to the matchup specifically that I’m missing? I’d love to know it but I’m too annoyed by Kim Kardashian to Google it to find out what it might be. I like both characters, I think people would click on it, I think it would be fun to watch. Maybe!

Emperor Hirohito vs Emperor Palpatine [submitted by jayftw]

Haha. That’s pretty dark, dude. I feel like Hirohito was so gentle, never mind his position at the helm of the Terror of the Pacific, I feel like his presence is always shown as dainty.  Palpatine is so grungy and loud, and so much more lovable as the villain. I think it would be a massively one sided battle. Lots of fun Star Wars references to be had, but I think Palpatine would demolish Hirohito by power of character, story, successes. #blowout

Tiger Woods vs OJ Simpson [submitted by Seymour the house Is on fire!]

Oh jeez. OJ would murder him. Hahahaha, ha,… but seriously… dude is a murderer. That’s where the battle goes, it’s a solid point that you really can’t come back from. Unless OJ owns it, which is just so dark. I feel bad for OJ, a little bit. Not a lot, don’t get me wrong. But I think he got hit in the head way too many times. Tiger Woods is a better person by a mile, but boring as a un-sugared donut. OJ is wild and fun, but he straight up stabbed his wife to death. He’ll be more fun to watch while being a totally horrible person, against boring and utterly decent Tiger Woods. Doesn’t sound very fun to make, watch, or be a part of.  

The Grinch vs John McClane [submitted by purplekiren]

Lol.  I like this one.  I might be the only person who likes it, but I do.   John McClane rounds out my list of child hood heroes for today’s MakeThisBattle. Man, did I want to be that dude.  I used to roll around in my bare feet and pretend Austrians were shooting at me, the whole nine yards.  The Grinch is a solid and flat no from me, but only because of how bad Michael Meyers was in the Cat in the Hat.  He was so bad, that I think of that face when I try to picture the live action Grinch that someone else did.  Was that Jim Carrey? Also bad. Live action Dr Seuss creatures with weird prosthetic faces suck, I think.  I’m glad we couldn’t afford anything more than sun glasses. Maybe we could do the same with the Grinch.  Whether or not It becomes reality, 3 cheers for my personal favorite suggestion of the day.

George Custer vs Douglas McArthur [submitted by The Omega Man]

My second favorite suggestion of the day! This is cool. It’s a bit nerdy for the masses, I think, but the history buffs, myself included, I think would love to watch it. Two giant personalities of battle, with huge volumes of material to reference. Custer brings in the Civil war, its battles, tactics of that time, all shit that McArthur could ridicule. On top of his spectacular failure. McArthur has WWII, his early losses, his “I shall return” crap, his giant Korea balls, his fallout (get it?) With Truman, loads and loads to reference. I would have fun with this and I’m a better man for having read this suggestion - god bless America.

As one door closes - another one opens! Yes, we are now accepting submissions for the next round of makethisbattle! The theme for the new round is 'What's in a Name?'. 

So, we want your best ideas for match-up concepts that are based primarily on the characters names e.g. Bruce Banner vs Bruce Jenner, Wonder vs Wonder, Mr T vs Mr Rogers etc. Could be a link based on the first name or second name or nickname or whatever. And the concepts can have deeper links as well if you wish - more the merrier! 

We'll select at least 2 match-up ideas that suit that theme. Same rules apply as normal. Three suggestions per person. You can post them in the comments below, email them to erbpatreon@gmail.com or post them on the Discord server in the dedicated '#make-this-battle' channel.
