The Cringiest Reaction We’ve Ever Done (Patreon Exclusive)

This Patreon-exclusive video was filmed months ago, and let’s just say, Ryan and Nathan haven’t dared to touch it since! Our original goal was to analyze why a reactor/editor with similar subscriber numbers gets so many views per video. But as the video goes on, our critique gets harsher, the commentary more brutal, and the whole thing spirals into peak cringe.

Watch at your own risk—this is Ryan and Nathan at their absolute worst and lamest. Only for patrons who want an unfiltered look at just how messy our reactions can get. Enjoy… if you dare!

I’m with most of you regarding authenticity. I really appreciate authentic reactions. I do get turned off by thumbnails with fake expressions. One of my favorite reactors currently has no tricks. LOL. He doesn’t edit, he records himself in his room listening to an album, sing or video and that’s what you get. I initially turned him off because I was like who is this guy getting high and just listening and talking. Well, somehow I gave it a try again because some watchers turned him on to Bey and I see him getting up and dancing. Then I realized how authentic he is when he’s reacting and I appreciate it. Please stop with the fake reactions. I don’t care what kind of special equipment you’ve mastered. All that is impressive, but mostly I’m connecting with people on shared love or dislike of art and in some cases just respecting the right to have your own tastes and experiences. I have to say, Ryan and Nathan are the first to get me to pay for a membership. 🙂 Thanks for sharing!

One more that really gets to me is that you can tell when the channel just reacts to someone cause they're big and the creator wants the clicks. Which is fine but I'd like the reaction to be genuine and I've seen many where they love everything and are just like omg this is the best thing ever and it feels that there are certain stars like Taylor, Beyonce or even Harry where reactors are scared to say anything critical about them cause they don't want to antagonize the fandom. Give me a valid criticism of my idol and I'll take it - I don't love everything they do and I don't see any value in mindless pretending that they can do no wrong, it's not interesting to me at all. Even more crazy are the channels where they don't say much at all - I have no idea how someone can have thousand of views from watching something without one pause, boping their head a bit and saying wow and amazing a few times

I'm glad that you've done this, it's cool to analyse this based on a specific yt channel and it actually made me reflect more consiously on why I'm watching the things I do. I've seen all of his Harry and 1D videos and I think I'm the same as Pat above. I love the boys and I watched tons of reactions to their stuff both from vocal coaches etc who have some professional angle to what their talking about and just general reaction channels. The main thing why I watch is for the happy feeling of hearing someone talk about the thing that I love, especially since until a few months ago I had zero people around me that cared and I could share that with them, so the reaction channels gave me that surogate sense of community. If I can also get to learn more about that favourite thing thats a plus. Some other thoughts: - I'm surprised you rated his quality of discussion as high as you did - in your reaction to his Golden reaction you raised very valid points - he said almost nothing that gave the viewer much insight into the process of making it. I expected you will talk about it here as well. I don't think his stuff is always as bad,I think I've learned something and he pointed stuff out to me that I haven't noticed before but I feel like it was more surface level - I'm with Ryan on hooks, I need a clear title and an enticing thumbnail, I don't care about the hook and always skip it - I'm also not much into exagerated reactions, random amazement and hiperpositivity - it's not my vibe and it's hard for me to buy it as a real thing. Proper love of something is best shown by teasing and inside jokes. And I think you guys re good at it and I love that you're both a bit of grumps ;)

I would love them to react to Zachary's formation reaction 🤣

Interesting - I wish you had put this out before I sent you my request last month for you to react to him 🤣 I think, personally, that I watch anything/anyone that puts out content about 1D or any of the guys, even the reactors that are truly terrible. But you two are the only ones I spend my hard earned money on - so hopefully that means something. PS I do agree with Ryan about hooks - I actually don't like them and will scroll forward to avoid them. Thanks also for doing the segment when you found out about Liam's tragic death.

😂 Ryan i think, like you rightly said, this is entertainment. It is exactly how and why movies and tv shows are a big thing: DRAMA 😂 people love drama generally, you clearly don’t as much. But that is why getting off his chair etc can be entertaining to watch, whether or not it is genuinely authentic. you would probably throw your computer if you watched Zachary Campbell (especially when he reacts to beyoncé) 😂 but we love your chill reactions and the jokes so you’re good! HTHaze is another channel that i think perfectly marries the dramatic with insightful analyses of the music. ZeesWorldView is a chill reactor as well but very entertaining to watch, as are you so no you are not doomed.

Not me commenting about the algorithm showing me this video editor dude’s videos ten seconds before Nathan says the algorithm pumps his videos out to dumb people who need digestible content 🤣😔 rude 😤 LOL jk it’s fair. I still 🫶🏻 you

Okay still watching 😄 going back to algorithms on social media, Ryan to answer your question on why his videos have a ton of views but that doesn’t translate to subscribers: I think it’s because it’s specifically Taylor Swift content. Like I said in my previous comment, I watch a lot of Taylor Swift reactions so YouTube has me pegged and will show me videos in my home feed with that kind of content. With that video editor, I am not subscribed to him but I watch all his T Swift reactions because I don’t have to be subscribed for YouTube to know to show me that content in my feed. And if I miss one, oh well. I certainly don’t give a f*** about video editing in any other context outside of Taylor 🤣 but I subscribed to you and became a Patreon for the reasons I noted before. I like what you have to say in general so I don’t only want Taylor content from you and I don’t want to miss anything 😊

I’m still watching this but wanted to hop in with my two cents regarding the video editor reactor guy and how Ryan was bored by him and surprised how many views it got. It’s because us Swifties are a different breed lol. We want to know evvvvverything we can possibly learn about her and her work. Give us all the behind the scenes, all the interviews, all the insight! I found you guys a while back because of your Taylor content, and for me personally I can tell you I watch a LOT of different kinds of reactors when it comes to her. Some I watch because they are fellow Swifties and know more about her than me, so I get the tea. Some I watch because their profession provides me with additional insight, like this video editor (I also watch a writing coach who breaks down her lyrics, a vocalist who comments on crazy notes and layered vocals, and some other musicians who can point out things from the production I may not have appreciated at first). Then I watch people like you who I just loved to watch discover her music and realize why we all like her so much. I stayed here because you guys are awesome; I love your unfiltered thoughts, how genuine you are, and bonus points for me you decided to watch Supernatural and Gilmore Girls, so now I get to feel like I can reexperience those fav shows of mine for the first time again. And once I knew I was going to like hearing your thoughts on something, I’ve also been enjoying discovering new things alongside with you. When you react to an artist I’ve heard of but haven’t really given a chance to, I enjoy getting to feel like I’m experiencing that journey with you. Not sure if that’s even remotely helpful. I feel like there’s so much about social media algorithms I’ll never understand but I feel like if you can crack the case to get your videos more visible to more people, folks will watch and stay!
