Just so happens this one is a brand NEW old computer! Haven't seen anyone do exactly this before on YouTube, so I hope you enjoy it :)

I'd like to thank you for rubbing off your love of old hardware onto this guy. I went to Goodwill today and walked out with 2 electical typewriters, and one massive IBM Correctable Selectric II. I'm a sucker for anything that Big Blue made!

I could totally feel the vibe and I was instantly back in 1989 when my dad bought our first Bull Systems Zenith desktop AT with 1MB of RAM and 20 MB HDD, monochrome VGA monitor, DOS 3.3, Windows 2.11 and Word Perfect 5.0 because he was writing his Master's Degree at the time. I was of course giddy just like you at the age of 11-12 and you know that comic strip of Calvin and Hobbes where Calvin is waiting for this hat with propeller on top that he ordered from a cereal box, and his mom is always telling him that it hasn't arrived yet? That was me for like three weeks! ^_^ So when the darn thing finally arrived, I was all like "This is so exciting I gotta pee first!" Unfortunately nothing came with it, Win 2.11 and all the rest was back ordered and I could only boot it up and watch the screen go: "No operating system detected. System halted." flashing me as I turned it on. What a bummer! Luckily a local PC-guru from our school came that very same day and showed me how to install the DOS 3.3 and taught me basic DOS navigation, Edlin and everything I needed to get around. Shortly after we got Windows 2.11 and a few games, and from there rest is history with my own 286 a few years later and all the goodies that came with that. Looking forward to the next episode with upgrades and sound cards! :D

I understand why you're so incredibly happy Clint, you just don't find something like this in the original packaging and untouched for so long nowadays. Kudos for the guy that's selling them as well. Can't wait to see what comes next for the 5170. Congratulations! \^^/

I had a keyboard similar to that Model M when I was about 3 or 4 years old and I know the feeling! XD Old computer specs and tech are way beyond my knowledge as far as components go and I kinda want to dive into that world being a computer tech myself since I did not have the knowledge back then. =P Great video man!

This was a huge model for them. How does that happen? You can get lithium AAs if you end up using one of those battery cases Because.... why not? :)
