LGR Quickie - Galaga '94 Review [fixed]

Haha, somehow this went up without voiceover last time. Bizarre.

LGR Quickie - Galaga '94 Review [fixed]

Some of my favorites for the mac include, Boom, a bomberman clone with Doom characters, Glider, a game where you control a glider through various screens Snood, similar to Bust a move or puzzle bobble Bolo, which was a networking tank game Marathon, a doom clone made by Bungie Maelstrom, a rather nice asteroids clone Plenty of others around, it really depends on what your hardware is. All of these should run on the 6400 you had in one of your older videos. Keep up the good work!

Frame rate is AWFUL, but the forgiving hit detection helps quite a bit.

I have quite a bunch of them! I've often thought it would be fun to make a video of casually browsing through them, it can be quite relaxing

LGR

Haha. Gotta appreciate the classics.

LGR

Thank you!

LGR

I have indeed! You shoot cheese, how awesome is that, haha

LGR

Huh, definitely some similarities visually!

LGR

I'd love to cover some sometime! Not something I'm too familiar with compared to PC stuff, but I'd be happy to hear suggestions

LGR

I have around 60 or so, I believe! Mostly just the copied ones, all my originals are pretty much lost

Love these types of vids. If you have any of those shareware compilation discs from the mid 90's I'd love to see you dig through them. My cousin and I spent so much time playing games like Hugo House of Horrors from them without a clue as to what we were doing. Haha

One of my very early ADG episodes was on Star Mines 2, the author of which had a very similar alternative to shareware/freeware he called "Cardware", the idea being to send him a postcard if you enjoyed the game. I actually did when I made that episode and he did indeed get it. As for Galaga '94, I never played it (let alone heard of it) but it actually looks pretty interesting and I do indeed see the similarities to Galaga. Framerate's horrible though. :P

Oh Christ almighty, that Herb Alpert album. I can't go a week without seeing that...beauty...

SwissArmyTin

Great vid! I love stuff on obscsure / semi-obscure games

It's an unconventional take (especially compared with the likes of Amiga classic Deluxe Galaga), but in its own right… I wouldn't mind checking it out for myself oddly enough… (wanders off to strange and foreign shareware archives…)

Also, have you come across the MS-DOS Space Invaders clone, Cheesy Invaders?

Steve Martin

Haha, I kept focusing on your boxed copy of Lethal Tender. I can't wait to see you talk about that one!

Interesting... This looks like a mix of the actual Galaga arcade game, with a game I had on the C64 called P.O.D. Proof of Destruction. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=angmYf_oF3Y

How many floppy disks do you even have right now from what you had growing up? I notice they keep popping up especially in your Quickies videos. :)

Love watching these shareware reviews! Have you considered doing some old Mac shareware?
