LGR - Thrifts [Ep.24] Beachin'

I'm mostly back from vacation! Still taking some time to myself over the next few days but I decided to put this together real quick. Spent a little bit of my time away thrifting, naturally :)

The Concert From Titan might be a real find, I tried to dig up information on it from google which was scant at best and the only one I found went for $40. This site I came across had the only real information I could find: http://badcatrecords.com/BadCat/AA_REVIEW_BABYGRAND.htm

Yup, most thrifty/etc types of places tend to be like that for me as well. Shame that the only gaming finds were back at old faithful! Though Oxygene is a *nice* find too :D I think only once in recent memory did I find some C64 stuff at one - and I was just that I was in the area (working on a contract) that week, because a week later the rest was gone!

Yeeeaaaah, those beach Goodwills are about how everything is around here in my experience. But some people have good luck with them anyway, so I guess it pays to keep going. My roommate works basically across the street from one, so he ends up dropping in more or less every day, and he's got a ton of stuff to show for it.

Runefox

Those beach Goodwills were quite barren in their barren-ness. That hobby shop though? Oh man, so many records.

The Enforcer

That Jean Michel Jarre album is phenomenal! There's a part 2 as well with Oxygene 7-13 which is also worth having. I hope you enjoyed your vacation despite working hard for your fans!

The theme music fits the beach. Now you just need a pina colada.

"I'm getting a taste of what everyone else goes through." Yup, that's pretty much how Goodwill's are in my city. We still got a good video out of it though. Welcome back.

Those beach Goodwills are just like the ones in my area. I want to know more about that Titan record!

Christoph

Hope you at least enjoyed the seaguls at the beach ^_^

Ehh, better then my antique stores in my village (which are pretty much thrift stores as they take ANYTHING, but they are all loaded to the brim with deadly weapons, in the united kingdom of all things. I had to once move a rusty fireaxe to get to a boxed copy of doom they had.

Christian

Yay! I was hoping for this when you said you'd be thrifting on vacation. Man that couch was amazing.

FizzPlease

Wow, you're already back! I thought you'd want to stay at the beach longer, haha. Hope you enjoyed chasing birds by the shore and looking at the weird thrift stores in the area. :) I am slightly disappointed there are no thrift stores in the ocean, though.

Great to see you had a great time, hope the parking situation wasent too bad down by the arcades. I was gonna stop by when I went for the MagiQuest closing last year, but it was crazy populated by the arcades, no parking anywhere.

I have a European copy of the Warchest for Medal of Honor: Allied Assault that I got from Amazon. It is kinda easy to get those kind of copies when shopping online. The goodwill stores near here are not that good, mostly clothes, I did get a set of Golf clubs from that one though. We tend to go to Arc Thrift stores here. They have some good items there.

Sounds like a spiced up Sim City soundtrack to me ;)

Marnix

Wow, those beach goodwill stores were a major disappointment. lol

ReeseRiverson

The weird album is my new favorite, haha. Really good stuff, surprisingly.

LGR

I was as shocked as you! I love the series!

LGR

I think it really depends on the demographic of people in the area. The city I'm in has loads of specialty stores, but the Goodwills are PACKED with awesomeness

LGR

I think the moment a town has a specialty used store or two (Santa Cruz has two used book stores, a giant record store and a local video game store), no one donates their stuff to the Goodwills and instead sell them to the specialty stores.

WHAT???? You've NEVER heard of Treasure Galaxy before???? This is incomprehensible to me!! Treasure Galaxy was one of the PC games my grandparents owned (along with Escape from Monkey Island), that I would play all the time when I'd stay over at their house! I remember I used to have so much fun playing it as a kid!

Jess the Stampede

Wow, quite slim pickings at the beach! My local stores are kind of disappointing a lot of the time but not that empty. That weird album intrigues me as well.
