6th Anniversary Special - LGR PC Game Collection

6th Anniversary Special - LGR PC Game Collection

Comments

Yay! I saw the copy of Aces Over Europe I sent you! I wasn't sure if you were including Dynamix games in with the Sierra games. I can't wait until you get around to filming some of those lesser known FPS games like Cybermage and Tekwar.

Steve Martin

This was awesome. Several years ago, when I first started to follow you on YouTube, I started my own little collection of games. What I do is I find the big boxes, if I can (found a factory sealed copy of Interplay's Virtual Snooker today in fact), or the loose jewel cases, and if they are not already sealed, I create an ISO of them, then I store them on my shelves. I have roughly 25 or so boxes, and almost 200 jewel cases. My Pride and Joy at the moment is my Star Trek Judgment Rites Collectors Edition box. I saw you have that as well. My tape and pin are still sealed in there as well. As a side note, I don't suppose you'd have a copy of MYST IV: Revelation for sale? I've been looking for it at a reasonable price for years, and just can't find it anywhere.

Zem Hysong

Appreciate the time I know it must have taken you to do this highly requested video. (both the time spent organizing the collection and making the video) -- The PC/game museum is your destiny! On the other hand, I feel like you're just teasing us with that TekWar box in several of your recent videos.

Zabe

Been waiting for this video! and you've been busy Clint, love getting the email alert that you released a new video. I got three in the last week lol. Thank you!

Jason Binger

My sincerest congrats on your 6th anniversary. You started off strong and have gotten better every year. Your collection is amazing and I'd visit your museum in a heartbeat! Ever heard of Syd Bolton's PC history museum in Canada? You'd love it. My wife and I have visited twice and had a blast. http://pcmuseum.ca/

briandemodulated

You definitely succeeded!

Mindful Peace Journey

thank you for this great video. keep the good stuff comming ! : )

Very awesome!

Congrats on your 6th anniversary, looking forward to a long run in the future! The Crusader No Remorse and No Regret boxes brought a tear to the eye. Do you have any more Legend Entertainment games, I saw Shannara on a shelf but others like Frederick Pohl's Gateway, Deathgate, and Wheel of Time were excellent! I think they were just as good as any Sierra or Lucasarts adventures.

Happy 6th Anniversary! Alot of nostalgia for me as well in your collection. When we got our Packard Bell 486 in 1991 my uncle gave us three games. The shareware of Wolfenstein 3D, Captain Comic, and F-19. One of the first games we bought was the Pinball game Tristan (spelling?). And the floppy disk version of Star Trek 25th anniversary. Eventually we got a CD-Rom, soundcard, upgrades, and now we we get computers we build them and upgrade them when needed, I am still using the computer I built in 2008, and it is still good, I had to upgrade some things, like when the video card fries but still high, though it is time to upgrade my motherboard and processor. Thanks for showing us your awesome collection and I am looking forward to reviews of the games you have and other videos of oddware, tech tales, or of you going thrifting! :)

Douglas Holmes

I saw a Full of old games that I used to play when I was young as well that I was wanting to know if you could review them for me please. The games are called Lego island and myst thanks and have a great day I love your shows .

Jessica Fermanian

Very exciting video ! :D Now I know what 4k is for. It's to zoom in on every shot of this video and still being able to read the labels ! ;) When I saw Cybermage, Transarctica, Dreamlands, I was smiling from ear to ear. :D As a MechWarrior, Interstate '76, Bullfrog, LucasArts, and Command and Conquer fan, it was very nice to see those games up close too. :) Kind of worried/sad (but only a little tiny bit, don't worry) to see the Amiga 1200s in a slightly bended shelve. Are you sure it won't crack under the weight ? ^^' And also, to see them without what came with it (power supply, scart cable, US replacement keyboard, serial cable, transfer software, mouse, external FDD, maybe some other stuff ? I don't remember very well) which would make them be up and running in no time (minus the need of a power converter, and a PAL TV or screen). Although from seeing the video I think space is an issue, plus a proper screen is hard to find (if you prefer that to a TV), as the A1200 is LARGE. And I do mean large. Anyway, I'm *certain* they are in good hands. It's just that them being mentionned with projects that need a lot work to be presentable got me really confused as normally nearly everything was included (again, minus power converter and display). Sorry ! ^^' And I know they are in better hands that they were on my end (did I mention that one time I tried to connect the external FDD while the Amiga was on and that the Amiga is NOT plug'n'play ? BAD IDEA ! Thankfully only my honor was damaged as I nearly wet myself from the reaction it caused). Also I'd like to thank you for your formidable show, and awesome 6 years. Here to more years of awesomeness ! \o/ Also I'd like to apologize for not making more french subtitles, it's just that every software I used for it made the process painful. I'd like to say to the computer "there, Clint said this and that ! What ? Write it you damn computer, do I have to rewind again and again and type everything down ?! :( ". So sadly this got sidetracked. But I'd like to make some more, at least for your channel trailer, someday. Anyway, it was nice also to see the famous chair. I certainly remember it from your old vids, and I squeed (or is it squee ? or skud ?) with joy every time I saw what I sent. Thank you very much !

Maximilien Noal

You mentioned you plan to move in the near future. God having to pack and transport all that sounds like a huge pain in the ass!!

Kevin Furr

good vid.. gotta say.. really impressive collection!!

BTW, I've been referred to as a hoarder a few times and I've always taken offense to it. My collection is pretty organized now anyway, if not displayed.

I'm going to itemize this response so it's not so 'all over the place'. 1. I can play/watch 4K in my browser and software just fine but my display is still only 1080. The visuals look especially clear though! I wonder if it's a placebo effect... 2. Thanks a lot, I realized a PC game I thought I had complete is actually missing the large outer box (The X-Files). ;) (On that note, know where I can find PC big boxes? The usual places?) 3. Was NSYNC a ripoff of VSYNC? 4. I had been skipping out on a few copies of the Epic pinball deck or board sets or whatever they're called, thinking I'd just wait to find a complete big box version. Now I know there isn't one! 5. I'm not the jealous type but... I'm jealous of your Tomb Raider big box collection. I only have 3 and its expansion TLA CIB... Love the TR series. 6. I recently found a game I saw in your video. I've been looking for it for several years. I just happened to find a link to an Amazon Marketplace listing selling it CIB cheap. I almost never buy online anymore with either not getting deals or getting sniped. I was SOOOO happy to find this game I had as a kid. I finally got CyClones (by Raven Soft/SSI) for $10. Has the reg and everything. Opening it took me right back to 1994 and being a kid. Again, I'd love to see your take on some time. Sorry for the ramble and happy anniversary! Happy to be supporting you.

Thanks very much!

LGR

Hard to say, because some of the games I have are basically one of a kind releases hand-made by the developer and shipped by mail-order! So those would be the rarest. But as far as most uncommon, most sought after, and most valuable all in one, that'd have to be Space Taxi. Last boxed copy I saw went for ~$1,000

LGR

*raises glass*

LGR

I'd really love that, it's so much fun to see other people enjoy this

LGR

Heh, yeah the definition sort of changed since it came out

LGR

Aw yeah, was hoping to drop some jaws

LGR

Can't wait to get them going too, they'll all make fun videos!

LGR

Pretty sure I have those too, but obviously not boxed. At least, not yet :)

LGR

Glad to hear it :)

LGR

I'd be down for that

LGR

That's what Patreon is for :) Pays my bills so I can focus on making better vids!

LGR

They're seen in the shot of the white table with the three computers on it, on the far right hand side of it! Don't yet have a shelf for them.

LGR

I know what you mean about wanting to hold onto things you otherwise wouldn't because people sent them to you. It's hard paring the collection down from time to time.

LGR

Recreating some of the software store experience is a big goal of how I have this stuff displayed!

LGR

Thanks! And I appreciate the info, and yeah there's really going to be very few people that will fully enjoy 4k at the moment. YouTube's implementation of it is still early too!

LGR

This video made me so giddy that by the end I felt like I was bouncing off the walls. You have so much enthusiasm for what you collect and for your Youtubing job, it's contagious! I admire that you took a bad part of your life with your breakup and job loss and really put 110% into something you were passionate about. As you showed your collection, I was triggered by memories of my own, whether I played it as a kid, or if it was one of my dad's games (that I most likely tried too), or if I remember you or Roses talking about it in he past. BTW, that clock that says "Who cares?" is probably the clock most true to your personality, probably only to be rivaled by like, a Duke Nukem or DOS-themed clock, haha. Also, I tried the 4k and 1440p HD. The 4k sadly stuttered and lagged but it looked absolutely wonderful on my TV. 1440p didn't lag, though, at least - it does on my netbook. Had to stream it on 1080p due to crap internet, though. Just thought I'd let you know. There's probably some way to get it to work on 4k without stuttering - I heard it was something possibly with the web browser or Youtube? I forgot. Ok, I'm done being a blabbermouth. Maybe I'm just making this extra-long comment to delay myself even further from working on my master's thesis today, haha. Keep doing what you do because we definitely love it!!! :)

Lindsay Michelle

There wasn't much more exciting to me growing up than going to a software store and browsing all of those awesome game boxes. There was even something about having to save up for a better PC or graphics card that made it all the more rewarding when it was finally installed and running. Maybe we've lost some of that nowadays, or maybe it's just nostalgia (probably both), but browsing this collection is an unexplainably special experience.

Mindful Peace Journey

Maaaan, so much awesome stuff! Though the only thing I haven't seen, unless they are packed away or something, is where do you keep the game boxes you get from The Indie Box? (Unless I missed it from taking in so much awesome you have here.) Heh

ReeseRiverson

I would have no idea what to do with so much stuff... :P As I like to tell people, I have a "functional" collection in that I only collect things I intend to use, and that covers everything, not just games but toys, movies, and other miscellaneous things. Granted, now that I review old stuff too I'm starting to end up with games which I wouldn't normally play on my own accord, but don't want to get rid of because of the sentiment of getting them from other people. Hmm... But yeah, congrats on 6 years of LGR! :D

Kris Asick

At this point, you should add a milestone so we can help you buy a new house. You really need more space!

Sabrina

This is awesome. You know, Retro Gamer magazine should do an article about you or at least a sidebar or something. Hope you remember us in your will.

Kevin Furr

Ohh I was smiling the whole time watching this :)

Lastseengaming

I still wear the T-shirt. It was too big when I was a teenager but actually fits now.

Zabe

What a massive collection of stuff... All those computers in one place reminds me of my high school's "tech depot". I really wish I had the space to collect that much stuff, but alas, not so. Ahh the flight simulators section. I'm kind of surprised you don't have DID's flight simulation games on your shelf; F-29 Retaliator, TFX, EF-2000, and the F-22 series were pretty great. Fun fact, F-22 Total Air War has seen a free release with community updates as TAW 2.0, which bundles everything from the two F-22 games into one. If you haven't looked at it, it's a pretty great game. Seeing Jetfighter II and III on there was a bit of a blast to the past for me, since Jetfighter III Platinum Edition was one of the first games I purchased on my own for the PC, and I played the heck out of it (also wore the heck out of the T-shirt). Also surprising is Sierra's Pro Pilot, and Silent Thunder; Those were quite a bit more obscure if I recall.

Runefox

Amazing collection! Can't wait to see those computers being worked on and restored!

Alyxx the Rat

Congrats on the 6th anniversary of LGR! :D Love that entire setup, doing it by genre makes a lot of sense (and triggered a lot of jaw dropping moments - especially with some of the titles in there). I love that long term goal about the museum, it'd be amazing to have that happen.

Rob Caporetto

Fury of the Furries, man what a misleading titel! But I bet wehn it came out it was totaly legid.^^

Ezydenias

That's an amazing collection. I hope you have the chance to make a museum or to work with a museum so you can one day display your love of PC gaming to the public.

Iron Arse Hands

Congrats on 6 years! Note to others: this video is best enjoyed by an open fire, with a fine wine or scotch. Top class stuff. On another note: I recently packed away my collection to move house, and it fit into three of those 25 gallon plastic storage containers. Shameful! :P

RetroSwim

woah, what's your most rarest game?

Christian

OMG! Your collection is just amazing, Clint! Congrats for your channel's 6th birthday ;)
