ayo!! we're back with another epic behind da scenes post...... B)
so... the lore is back... but this time COMPRESSED!! to just a few speech bubbles... i honestly didn't wanna have to include ANY explanations of lore in this update, so i feel pretty lousy about the whole thing... but, i admittedly kinda wrote myself into a corner with these two, cause the conversation they're having just makes no sense without at least a little context
i really, REALLY wanted to avoid having to explain anything directly this time, but i just couldn't think of a way to avoid it, since we're already in the middle of this conversation... so, with no other way out, i just tried to make it as concise as possible, and move right on to more character-based stuff (like adrian's goofy ass revenge plan). basically just There's Magic and you're not supposed to bring it to earth. and if you do magical uncle sam will come whoop ur ass. hell yea

[this is what magical uncle sam looks like in my mind]

in all honesty, it completely freaks me out to be writing this stuff again, cause i REALLY don't wanna make people feel like it's going in a weird direction and leave--i know most people stick around for a long story they're invested in just to see what happens, unless it COMPLETELY jumps the shark, so most people won't see a few speech bubbles of lore and be like. fuck this shit im out. but damn.... when this is the only thing you think about at all day its really easy to get nervous about messing it up.... >w>'' my heart's been racing all day cause i feel so scared and dumb about it,, gah,,
aah well... it is what it is... i'm not gonna change it any more than i have already--i did my best, and that's all i really can do. so, i'm just gonna keep on moving forward, and hope for the best!!
so... onto some more technical things!!
this update i tried something new with the sketches, that i wouldn't exactly call successful persay, but still interesting to share nonetheless!!
so, usually when i do sketches, i start from scratch and just build it all up in one go, adding and erasing till i have a solid picture to make lines from--this includes all the construction shapes, facial features, hands, etc... once in a while i have to make a new layer for a particular thing if i can't get it right and need to redraw it a bunch, but USUALLY it all happens on one layer...

[this is one i did like that, for example!!]

but, this time around, i tried making anatomy sketches to base the final sketches off of!! i just basically drew out all the bodies and poses beforehand, so that the final sketches would hopefully be more dynamic.
at first, i actually thought it was working, but as i kept going i realized i wasn't even really using the anatomy sketches i made, just doing what i normally do with a confusing extra layer under it slowing me down.... i think the only one that felt more dynamic to me was the second panel, (the one i put as the cover image for this post!!) but even then I can't really tell if it was just a good sketch on its own, or if the anatomy layer helped somehow...
so, probably not gonna be doing that again... but, hey, its always good to try new things!! thats the best way to improve at anything!!
for comparison, here's the panel i liked the best as an anatomy sketch, regular sketch, and the final version!!
