Hello All!

Please tell me that was genuinely Buffy at the end with Spike!! What a moment! I'm forever unsure if people are who they are in these episodes now because of the First body hijacking all the darn time! Great battle between Buffy and the supervamp. Loved the twist with the telepathy between the scoobys too! I'm glad I wasn't alone on the hatred towards the British accents last episode haha, let's hope we don't have to listen to too much of those & HEY FELICIA! Wouldn't mind more of Miss Day though!

Hope you enjoy the reaction folks. Have a lovely week everyone! Thank you for the constant love & support!

Much love

Dakara x

Buffy the Vampire Slayer Reaction 7x11

Comments

I'm just catching up on your recent Buffy episodes. I'm so not a fan of the whole potential storyline, and there's at least one potential I absolutely cannot stand but I don't want to inadvertently colour your own viewing so I'll wait a couple more episodes before saying anything else.

Your cat is sooooo cute!

As others have pointed out, the First cannot be corporeal. This is why the first thing Spike does when his hand is free is touch Buffy's shoulder and breathe that little sigh of relief. This is as much for our benefit as his, so we all know it is the Real Buffy this time. Of course, those who are really paying close attention would know it is really Buffy when we see her holding the knife to cut Spike loose. The First wouldn't be able to lift or touch anything. This is also why Spike says "You can't hurt me. You're just a bloody figment" before he realizes it really is her.

StephanieB

Yeah, she's right up there with David Boreanaz Irish

If it makes you feel better the girl doing the American southern accent, Eve, is almost as bad at it as the girls doing the English accents lol.

One thing that shines in this episode is the faith and trust the core Scoobies have in each other. There is a small moment where Xander looks through the window of Eve's hotel room and tells Buffy to kick the door down. And she does it without hesitation, immediately trusting his judgement. Buffy shows faith in Willow to do a barrier spell (even a short term one) despite Willow's self doubt. And Willow and Xander have complete faith that Buffy will best the Ubervamp, despite the beating she took in the previous episode. If Buffy says she can take it, that's enough for them. They know that setting up for the potentials to see Buffy in action, as they have seen for the last 7 years, will be enough for them to have faith in Buffy too, because Buffy is definitely going to win the fight.

I completely forgot that Felicia Day and Amanda Fuller were in this episode. This was one of Felicia's very early roles and I basically watched Amanda grow up. I really like both of them, but do have a place in my heart for Charlie in Supernatural. I think I need to rewatch those reactions as I really miss that show and your love of it. The accents are pretty bad, and it seems the one girl just took notes from Drusilla. To be fair to Eve, as a person that was born and raised in Chicago, but has lived in Tennessee for almost 29 years, the South, just like the North, has many varieties of accents. Even in Chicago, the southside and northside of the city have distinct differences. Interesting note on the Turok-Han/übervamp: The actor that played him is Camden Toy. He also played one of the Gentlemen in "Hush" (4x10) and Gnarl in "Same Time, Same Place" (7x03). He's also in an episode of Angel in season 5. We're halfway through the final season and I'm not sure I'm ready for this to end. Watching you become so invested and so emotional brings me right back to when I originally watched it when it first aired; imagine having to wait a week for the next episode and then 5 months for the next season. Thank you for continuing to create great content, Dak. As I've said before, you're the best. Oh! I finally caught up on Teen Wolf! 🙂

Welcome to the Hellmouth - S01E01

"Here endeth the lesson" was a line used by The Master in "Never Kill A Boy On The First Date" from season one. It's really a traditional way of ending a Bible reading. ... Someone already addressed this, (and while I'm American, I'm not Southern) but "Eve's" southern accent isn't the greatest, either. ... It's entirely reasonable to find yourself annoyed by the Potential. ... I may be in the minority here, but I wouldn't complain if you rewatched the "Amends" episode from season three, and recorded it. But that's only a notion. 🙂 ... The cat's a show-stealer.

Koz

Rona the moaner gets a bit annoying by the end of the episode, and some more dodgy accents to deal with. But more Scooby please! 🐱

If it makes you feel any better, as a native southerner, the pain you feel every time Molly speaks is the same pain I feel every time Eve has a line. :-)

AlyAdmirer

Remember... if it's the FIRST, it can't touch anyone. So with Buffy helping Spike up to his feet, you know it's really her.

These last three episodes chain together wonderfully and it to me (as i've said before) really sets up the vibe for the rest here. The potentials are just kids yes, but they are also aproximately the same age as Buffy was in Season one :). Imagine that. I like how they set up the 'thunderdome' situation and agree that it was something the girls needed to see. For days the first had been manipulating them in the guise of Eve, so its no wonder they start to doubt then. I get what you mean about the ending. There's no way to please everyone, and the show is soo good you don't want it to end. So its always difficult to imagine how they do it, and hope they do it justice, or atleast do it in a way you enjoy. I know Kenedy is also devisive, but I kinda like how she is slowly pushing Willow a bit. She obviously doesn't understand the danger of the magic, not having seen it before. I can see both sides. Andrew is.... andrew. He's there, he's a bit pathetic (or a lot) but also good for a laugh at times. He has a strange role in the house, but at the very lease its someone to unite against in the house xD.

Love Scooby's 'shall I leave' and then 'I'm back again'. Such an attention seeker lol. And yay! Felicia Day has finally appeared! This is the first time I ever saw her.

Sharon Owen

You said you weren't sure if it was really Buffy saving Spike, but they've already said the first is non-corporeal. So, it can look like anyone who has died, but it can't touch or manipulate anything. They've said this a couple times, so it's not a spoiler. Great reaction and episode as always. I love how they can turn the narrative in the story by just changing your perspective a tiny bit and you see what was impossible seems possible. Plus, the gang are all so used to serious danger that they aren't quite as phased as the potentials. They did need to see that Buffy can win or they wouldn't follow her into danger. I loved how they did this in this episode. You said you were hoping for more meaty episodes and from this point on it's pretty much all very main story "meaty" stuff. Strap in! :) Oh, and I loved the Scooby cat butt.

MainTankMaisy

"Oh. Here I thought "hungry" was English for hungry." - Rona I'm not going to lie but that line *really* ticks me off. 😅
