Hello All!

Really fun episode with the gang being sent back to their youths, when life seemed so much easier and hopeful LUL... Great to see Wesley appear more and with the group, it's not under the best circumstances but great to see none the less. I hope we have our true Cordy back now & I will never grumble at more Lorne screen time!

Hope you enjoy the reaction folks. Have a lovely week everyone! Thank you for the constant love & support!

Much love

Dakara x

I too was thinking of Cordy's knowledge of vampires while watching this. Assuming she's 18 in her graduation year, she should have turned 17 no earlier than the Buffy S2 premiere. But I don't think she says anything here that definitely proves she's unaware of vampires. The only thing I think post S1 Cordy would have said here that she doesn't is 'can we call Buffy?' But I assume that the difference in networks was limiting references to Buffy at this time.

The framing device of Lorne telling the story (to an empty room, it turns out) works great for this episode. And the look at 17ish versions of the Angel Investigations crew is a fun idea. I wonder if Cordy was just a little TOO acerbic to be an accurate reproduction of BtVS season 1 Cordelia, but it's no big deal, and she DOES repeat her original line when seeing Angel for the first time ("Hello, salty goodness.") Wouldn't Cordelia at this age know of vampires? Also, 1700s Angel has virtually the same reaction to 1700s Buffy in "Halloween" to seeing cars: thinking they're demons. Nice. ... I can't not be interested when you bring up potential new shows for the impending end of the Buffyverse (which is a bummer, really) but I don't want to be obnoxious in championing Hercules and Xena all the time, so I won't. Except that I just mentioned them. Sorry.

Tabula Rasa is the similar Buffy episode (meaning 'clean slate'). Also the title of the third ever Lost episode. 'We should all have a chance to start over'. That's what makes this episode so compelling, aside from the performances: it's a chance to reset. To 'breathe'. Even if you're Angel.

This is one of my favorite standalone episodes in the Buffyverse. For the life of me I can't remember the Buffy episode that was similar to this one, but I just love these goofy breaks from the overarching storyline. The only thing that would have made it better would have been the complete absence of Connor. His presence added nothing and seemed to be randomly tossed in so the viewers would remember what a wanker he is. I thought the story being told/narrated by Lorne was a clever device and his melancholic delivery set a certain mood. It was like he was reading a bedtime story. I love Lorne. Favorite line in the episode: "I had my throat cut and all my friends abandoned me." Thank you so much for the shoutout! I was really surprised that you addressed a few things that I had not only been thinking about recently, but even while watching your reaction to this episode. Tonight I thought to myself, "Buffy is almost over and Angel isn't far behind. What's going to happen then? What shows can replace these two?". I felt kinda weird because I'm used to my nightly ritual. I'm still catching up on Teen Wolf, so there's that, but I'm really going to miss these two shows. We still have 2+ seasons of Grimm, thankfully. The comment that really surprised me was when you talked about possibly watching Superman & Lois, because every time you would swoon over Tyler Hoechlin in Teen Wolf, I thought "Dak needs to watch...". I understand preferring to watch a series after it ends, but S&L have 3 full seasons with a total of 43 episodes, so that would last you a good while. It really is a very good show, although I've fallen behind and have all of season 3 still sitting on the DVR. I feel like I'm forgetting a thing or two, but I've droned on long enough. Again, thank you so much for the shoutout as it made my night. Thank you Dak, I look forward to your next upload!
