Hello All!

The finale season has begun for us here! Sunnydale High is reborn! With a very handsome principle and played by a very familiar face! Great to see Willow working on herself and wanting to be 'Willow' - warmed my heart hearing that. Plus Giles is there to help out which is great too. Dawn is tackling going back to a new school and new year & in typical Sunnydale fashion, it doesn't go great!

Hope you enjoy the reaction folks. Have a lovely week everyone! Thank you for the constant love & support!

Much love

Dakara x

Buffy the Vampire Slayer Reaction 7x01

I love that final scene so much! I'm so glad they got all the actors to come back because it definitely wouldn't have hit as hard if it wasn't all of the past villains (in their original forms). Definitely one of the best scenes in the series and there's a few more best scenes coming up in this season. Hope you enjoy it!

Yeah, it's Spike trying to cut out his soul. ... They went into this season with the intent of it being the last, but I do believe that it was not absolutely etched in stone at this time; that it, they COULD have ended up doing another season, but as we know, that didn't happen. ... A missed opportunity to have Giles quickly explain what bangers and mash is to Willow. ... I am eager for your first trip through the final season of one of my favorite shows of all time!

Koz

Good to see you feeling the show and rocking out to the intro again after a rough patch there. Knew you would come around.

I headcannon it a bit differently, as more of a continuity error. not Helfrik was Cecily but Cecily Became Helfrik Who's vengeance was she reeking on William?

Jon Freezin-Rain

When Spike said “I tried to cut it out “ he didn’t mean his heart he meant his soul

As season openers go I suppose bringing Buffy back from the dead was a hard act to follow! The final scene with all of the big bads is pretty epic, whether or not the rest of the season lives up to that promise is a discussion for another time. Didn't Spike tell Buffy it was just the three of them down there, maybe he isn't alone? What always bothered me about this episode is that the question of who left the talisman and summoned the spirits (and why) is left unresolved, though I don't suppose it really matters. Just seems like a bit of a loose end. The Willow and Giles scenes were filmed in England, from memory I was going to say Wiltshire but above Gary says it was Somerset - I guess my brain cells are a little rusty! And I believe this was planned as the final season largely because SMG didn't want to do it anymore.

They never met on screen, but the Mayor did at least know who Spike was...

Just a little point of interest. Halfrek mentions the Crimean war, which was in 1854, so that means she would have been working as a vengeance demon when she met Spike as Cecily.

Welcome to season 7 Dakara. I love this season. This episode might not be that strong, but that ending with all the villains is iconic. Why does Spike see them? He didn't even meet the Mayor and he wasn't in season 1. Hmmm.

It is wonderful to see our Willow back and learning how to control the magic that she acquired at the end of the last season. The love that Giles has for Willow shines in their conversation and the fact that he brought her back to England to study under the Devon Coven which includes a certain Miss Harkness, most probably named after Marvel's Agatha Harkness. The Willow/Giles scenes were filmed at Tony Heads house in Somerset.

5, 7, 6, 3, 4, 2, 1. Not hugely different. This season, just from this episode, feels more stable. Like waking up from a year-long delirium: previously, the problem was inside the characters; now it's coming from somewhere else. No matter how big, that makes it easier to face.

I always felt like this episode was such a huge relief after the last season. You get to see the sun and everything! And since others are doing it, my favourite seasons: 5, 4, 7, 6, 3, 2, 1

If this episode teaches us anything it's that Dawn is way better than Buffy at fibbing to people about supernatural occurrences than Buffy ever has been😆 The whole "I'm allergic to bees" thing was actually pretty clever.

Yes, after they continued after S5, this was planned to be the last season. And its a banger. Its my favourite together with seaosn 5 so I'm hyped :D. Its not the best opening episode as you said, but they did touch on a lot of good stuff. I think its mostly that even though they touched on a lot of good and interesting points, but the monster of the week didn't really have anything to do with it. The only connection is that they're all supposed to have been "ghosts" that buffy couldnt save. The fact that we never saw them, makes it a non-connection to me. I think thats the reason this episode is good, but not thje best opener. I love the training scene in the beginning, the vamp being stuck is hilarious. Spike got his soul back, but seems two fries short of a happymeal. Though it seems something else is there aswell. The cycling though all the villains at the end is such a hype moment, and then such confusion with Buffy at the end. Willow now has the magic within her, and could feel the hellmouth all the way from England. The scenes between Giles and Willow are great too, and Willow just breaks you a little when she says "I just wanna be Willow again.". Also, small fun thing, but did you notice, the music that plays this episode when we get to Willow the first time, is a mutation of the song "I'm under your spell" that was the Willow/Tara song in S6, Once more with Feeling. Looking forward to the next one :D.

I'm pretty sure this was planned to be the final season. Most of this episode is just meh to me, except for the stuff with Willow and Spike. I also love DB in this episode. But the ending with all the villains was fantastic. Chills every time. This is my second favorite season after 5, and that ending gives us a glimpse of why.
