Buffy the Vampire Slayer Reaction 6x11

Please use one of the links at the bottom of this post to watch this video, thank you:

Hello All!

This episode had me howling laughing. Which again is strange because the subject matter a lot of the time was real heavy but Buffyverse being Buffyverse had me mixing my emotions! I adored the conversation between Buffy & Willow in this one, it felt very much needed & very real. I still would like Buffy to confide more in Willow with regards to Spike but she's clearly not ready to divulge that information. Invisible Buffy with Spike was jokes! Xander pratically catching them in the act TWICE in one episode & still being so sure nothing is happening haha.

Hope you enjoy the reaction folks. Have a lovely week everyone! Thank you for the constant love & support!

Much love

Dakara x

Hey, I just signed up so I'm late to the game. Is episode 6x10 (Wrecked) available or was there something wrong with it?

Well there. the story is slowly building. Buffy and Willow both made some progress. As always they manage to bring heavy stuff with some comedy to lighten the mood. Though I've got to say, the moves on the social worker were funny, but I feel for everyone who now has to take her cases. Dawn was indeed a typical teenager here, but for once I think thats a good thing. She deserves to be that for a change. The Spuffy moments are something allright, and to this day I do not know how i feel about it :D. The "villains" or arch-nemesesssesessiies are now known to the gang, and they are.... yea, not concerned. A strange occurence with the reveal of the "bad guys" of the season. What other hairbrained plan can they monkey up.

Off topic from this episode, but just regarding the Willow addiction story line (thank you for including my comment as well), yes I absolutely think they are doing a fantastic job with her story arc & it does ring very true for me on a personal level. The 'prostitution' scene was difficult to watch for me as well, because I've been there and I could just imagine what was going through Willow's mind at that moment. That part where she looks over to Amy for some sort of reassurance & Amy tells her ''it's over fast" was really similar to my experience as well. First time I worked the streets it was to make up a short fall in money I needed to afford my fix, and it was something that was just casually suggested to me my a fellow addict. Like Willow I had that initial moment of, "can I really do this, is this okay?" and like Amy's response to Willow this girl I knew just shrugged her shoulders and said, "yeah, it's no big deal, you just get out there and get it over with". In that moment my addict brain just went into bizarro logic mode, like, "Yeah, of course, I do this and I can get heroin, omg that makes so much sense". It wasn't until later, when I was coming down off my hit, that I ended up scrubbing myself under a shower whilst I had a panic attack. Still didn't stop me going out again though, because needing to inject a drug every 4-6 hours or you end up horrendously sick isn't exactly cheap to maintain. And yes absolutely the memory of all of that was something I did really tap into when I was in recovery, because once I got out there was no way I wanted to go back. It did take me a long time, and therapy, to fully deal with the stuff I had done in active addiction, and the shame of it. It's something I've been able openly talk about now for some time, but it was definitely a journey to get to that point. So yeah absolutely watching Willow's journey on first viewing was something I really resonated with.

Valkubus all the way haha

I like the rough parallels between the opening and later events. Both the chair and Buffy are made invisible. Jonathan goes for a ride on the chair which squeals. Both Buffy and Jonathan get up angrily. Jonathan shouts "you penis" while Buffy takes a different tack orally. Jonathan is called Frodo who had an invisibility ring that led him into temptation.

It maybe took me a couple of watches to catch on but that scene is hilarious when you think about it at a meta level. You can imagine the director taking a stand and saying "No, I'm a professional goddamit, I'm going to shoot a dramatic argument and fight scene whether the actors have turned up or not!", while the scriptwriter is standing off to the side wondering why they are bothering. And the one quick moment where the camera starts to pan across but doesn't know who's talking (because the director can't see them) and then quickly whips back. Really well done. (Yes I am aware David Fury is both the writer and director of this episode - this is a purely imagined difference based on how the scene is executed).

Same as Christopher, not much to say but I will touch on some stuff. At the beginning when Spike shows up at Buffy's, I'm telling myself he was rubbing her leg, but I don't moan when someone does that to me, so... wow. Of course, that was an appetizer for what would happen later after she gets zapped. I was trying to figure out the haircutting thing too. This episode aired in January of 2002, so it was shot in 2001. SMG appeared in the movie ''Harvard Man'' and an episode of ''Grosse Pointe'' that same year. However, in both of those her hair was the normal long hair we were used to, so maybe she just decided to change her hairstyle in real life. It's very cute. Another thing I thought about was the fact that during 2002 she was voicing Daphne in Scooby-Doo (gee I wonder why they wanted her - years of free Scooby advertising). So that made me think that maybe she was doing that simultaneously so it was easier to voice Buffy at the same time. I dunno, I think too much. Even though I didn't like Doris' attitude, I did kinda feel bad for her. But it certainly solved the problem. Yep, saw the invisi-sex coming - or didn't depending on how you take that. ''Hello, ding dong''. Not yet. When Xander walked in and saw Spike I laughed almost as much as you, Dak. Those vigorous thrusts and the little Buffy moans were something to behold. And I was totally waiting for another implied oral innuendo. That first one made me blush, but this one made me laugh. I have a like/dislike for the Geek Squad, but to be fair this was a very good episode. Seems I did have a bit much to say. Okay, see you soon Dak!

Okay... as distracting as Buffy's hair was to you, the Valkubus mug was to me. Also, you have fantastic tastes. :-)

I think you hit all the big points about this episode but the one thing I loved that wasn't important in the big scheme of things was the invisible action scene. Making an exciting fight without anyone on camera is a special talent.

Not much to say this episode. We see improvement with both buffy and willow even though buffy does relapse when she is "gone". Both spike and dawn don't like buffy not being all there for different reasons. Dawn hates how buffy is forgetting about her responsibilities and spike hates how buffy only wants him when she isn't her normal self. First when he says she came back wrong and now when she isn't herself physically. Xander can not even fathom buffy and spike together so I understand why he didn't know she was fucking spike. Xander has always had buffy on a pedestal and that's one of the reasons buffy is so afraid to tell her friends. She can't handle her friends seeing her at such a low point. He compared not all there dru and harmony as the lowest people who could ever consider sleeping with spike. To him buffy is nowhere near their level. But buffy's depression has really effected her morals. Even making the counseler think she was crazy is a bit too much for buffy to be doing.

This episode is called 'Gone'. The last two were 'Smashed' and 'Wrecked'. All 3 of those words are euphemisms for 'drunk', and used as titles here intentionally because of that. It seems to me that 'gone' implies a greater degree of intoxication than 'wrecked', and 'wrecked' greater than 'smashed'. So it's like the show is trying to tell us that things are getting worse. However, I like this episode more than Wrecked, and I like Wrecked more than Smashed, because to me it feels like things are getting better. Willow is dealing with her addiction; Buffy is no longer even passively suicidal. The talk between the two at the end is like a breath of fresh air after a long submersion in a pool of toxic. Where does the show go from here? Maybe to a good place, maybe to a bad place, maybe to a medium place. But based on this episode, to quote a movie, 'I face the future for the first time with a sense of hope.'
