Hello All!
Well I have been trolled again and I am still none the wiser on what the frick is going on?! We have a Dawn, a 14 year old hijacker of life and I am so bloomin' confuuuuused!!! I do love the confusion though! I'm enjoying trying to figure things out. My main guess is Dracula but it could be even before then??? Something has messed with the timeline though and perhaps universes have got muddled up. IDK!! Great episode though, Harmony was jokes and Giles has a new purpose again with a magic shop! I LOVE THIS SHOW!

OMG How have I watched this show so many times and never realized that one of Harmony's minions is the actor who plays Andrew??? Can't believe it took me so long to recognize that voice!

This made me giggle, because technically speaking, they had mentioned her in the show, even before the end of episode 5x1. Twice. I love this show and your reactions to it so much.

2023-06-11 02:08:22 +0000 UTCI have mix feeling about this episode. It has some great scenes, and ideas, but also some other scenes that look cheap, even a little bit sloppy. The idea to show the episode, or at least a big part of it, from the Dawn's point of view, for example, is brilliant. The scene in the kitchen is also pure gold, the kind of stuff that I love in this show, it manages to give us the feeling of Summers' family dynamic without basically no dialogue, in a perfectly choreographed, long uncut sequence. On the other end, there are all the night scenes with the vamps that feel, I don't know, fake, or better like they were shot on a stage instead that on location. In this case, personally, I blame a weird use of lighting. The fight scene between Harmony and Xander is quite clumsy, it drags on too long, and lacks dynamism, finishing with the ridiculous kicking out of Harmony like a bowling ball by Xander. He's Xander, not Superman. Then don't let me talk about Anya needing medical attention after been hit once by a vampire. You could say: “yeah, but in real life... “, and I would answer that, considering the epic beating that these guys received in the last four seasons, in real life, at this point, they would be stuck in a wheel chair with permanent damage, or in ICU bed attached to a ventilator, or in a coma, or, more likely, dead. It's sloppy and breaks the rules of Buffy's world. Damn, just few episode before she had her hand pierced from side to side and she shrugged it off like nothing, come on! Dakara, I would like to remind you a couple of things, and I swear that I'm not trolling or lying to you … 1 – Someone, somewhere, in the past talked about Buffy's little sis. 2 – Somebody else, in another point in the past, even call her by her name, Dawn. Who? Where? When? … Well, you have seen the episodes, and the scenes, I'm talking about, so I leave it to you to find out.😉

2022-10-25 19:55:54 +0000 UTCI'm really glad you've been warned of spoilers this season a lot of people like tobput in comments that they don't consider spoilers because they're just cryptic or maybe it's already been said or happened etc. But for a first time viewer it's not likely to pick up on them. I didn't til several rewatches of the whole show. I know another buffy reactor I watch unfortunately had this in her comment section and felt kind of spoiled and disappointed and like she couldn't be in the moment. I wasn't even aware myself about not commenting those things until I watched her vid on it so I'm glad I have been educated there. Seaosn 5 is definitely my fave season and I'm excited to see you react to it!

2022-10-25 18:50:50 +0000 UTCFun episode. I always love a Harmony appearance. Giles getting the magic shop somewhere to put his efforts into is nice. The constant sibling rivalry was fun and seeing how a Slayer copes with having a younger somewhat annoying sister. Also this season is where Anya became one of my favourite characters "Can I trade in the children for more cash?" Lots of other things to say but I'll hold onto them until later, they aren't spoilers as such but probably still best to wait.

2022-10-25 17:22:20 +0000 UTCIf you look up 'curds and whey', which the half-dead man yelled at Dawn outside the shop, on Wikipedia, one of the things it directs you to is the nursery rhyme 'Little Miss Muffet', which is who Faith said was 'counting down' during Buffy's dream sequence in the Season 3 finale.

I think its genious that they actually made a completely seperate credit sequence for episode 1, just to hide the fact that they are finally giving Dawn some screen time. It had to happen after Tara mentioned her in S4. I was also a 100% for giles taking over the magic shop. The first scene with Dawn, Buffy and Joyce was perfect sibling relations, with the cereal. Buffy is clearly anoyed by Dawn, but when she gets taken you can imediately see the shift in buffy's eyes. A grade acting. Also willow and Tara are too cute

2022-10-25 15:13:01 +0000 UTCI remember my initial response to Dawn was, "Wait, what, how?", but then I just automatically head-canoned her into the show. Like maybe Buffy had a sister this whole time, but during her parent's divorce Dawn decided she wanted to live with the Dad, and that made Buffy and Dawn estranged to the point that Buffy just never spoke about having a sister and pretended she was only child, and now Dawn has realised she can't hack it with her Father so she wants a go at building a relationship back with her Mum and Sister. Not saying that is what's going on, but it made sense to me at the time of first watching the show.
