Re: militaristic potential of the left wing versus the right wing: the working class are very often living in cities, and are close to their neighbors in different ways. The petit boug are very often suburban and individualistic. The inner city working class will be a lot more likely to help each other when the shit hits the fan, than the suburbanite.

The writer Dmitry orlov lived through the collapse of the Soviet union and saw that America was following in the Soviet union's footsteps. He wrote about it back in 2007. He's since moved back to Russia and has left Patreon and moved to a different platform called boosty. Not sure if Tom or tarence has ever heard of him but his writing is very prescient and certainly changed my thinking.

Death cult and MLM. Excellent way of putting it! I'm unwilling to put too much into the mass shootings being an op. Have you seen the kind of media we put into our children's brains? When pretty much every action movie is 'guy with gun gets bloody revenge', and people sense that the system is utterly corrupt and inhumane, every now and then you're going to get one of these shooters. Not saying it is impossible, given the CIA's history, but it seems unnecessary. I think the mass shooters can be chalked up in a close category with the other 'deaths of despair' and deaths of desperate criminal violence. Ever seen Full Metal Jacket? Private Pyle? "You're going to be in a world of shit" "I AM in a world of shit". A violent act with a gun by an individual can be an act of rebellion. Private Pyle at least shot an agent of the death machine system (a drill instructor). The mass shooters, and criminal mass shooters, denied responsive politics, are committing violent individual acts of revolution/desperation. If you lack any agency or power at all, picking up a gun is a quick way to gain some agency and power.
