Biotechnology isn't necessarily bad, it's just the mother fuckers who control it are bad. They pretend that it is used to end world hunger, even though we already produce more than enough food. Really they are just trying to convert third world farmers who have there own farming practices. Now those farmers are in insane debt trying to keep up with constant pesticide applications and other inputs. No wonder once they started the green revolution, farmers took the #1 spot in suicides around the whole world.

It's just a straight-up lie that anti-GMO "activists" stopped the development of Gold Rice. Further commercial development was stopped because there were sooooo many problems with the studies showing it decreased vitamin A deficiencies in humans, including researchers giving test subjects vitamin A supplements! How is that the fault of activists, exactly? Also, what other GMOs have promised to do anything other than pesticide resistance and crop yield increase? The answer is none. Golden Rice was the only one that promised national benefits, and it didn't even work. It was never commercially available, so activists did not "doom" millions to blindness, as much as the "skeptical" world would like that to be true. They are literally spreading lies when they say that. The whole issue overlooks the core issue which is: why do millions of people only have access to rice for the majority of their diet? Why can't they plant more diverse crops? The answer will surprise you! (It's capitalism and capitalism colonialism of the global south.)
