The future of A Lament of Snow and Magic

Don't worry, I'm not abandoning or going on hiatus.

I have been thinking of doing a soft rewrite of the story to age up the characters by two years. I'm just tired of writing 13-year-olds and feel that sticking to canon ages is constraining my writing. This isn't something spontaneous as even before I started writing this story, I always imagined any HP story I write would follow that formula but ultimately decided to stick closer to canon.

Something I ended up regretting.

Before I decide whether this is worth it or not, however, I had to get your opinions on the matter first. I will go with what the majority wants, but leave your thoughts in the comments or in discord.

This is my thought process on how this will work in-universe: Hogwarts starts at 13 and many things will be changed to suit the setting. For starters, the age of majority is STILL 17 but most students just graduate after OWLs while NEWTs are considered higher education.

Here are the explanation of each choice:

1) Complete soft rewrite from chapter 1. May take a long time as I do it in the background (probably be done by late summer) but I will post it all in one go once I finish (or I could post links to the Google Docs for those who want to read it chapter by chapter). Future chapters will remain the same with everyone in canon age until my old chapters catch up, then we have 15-year-old Harry and Co.

2) Continue writing and just 'magically' have everyone two years older. This will be incredibly jarring for many readers and not really my first choice.

3) Stick to canon ages. Honestly, it's not that bad and it will allow me to keep many of the shorty jokes from early in the story. Besides, who doesn't want to read about 13-year-olds acting like adults?

Either way, any future HP story I write will follow the Hogwarts start at 13 scenario. It gives me so much material to work with without having to worry about how children act and not starting the story from an older year just to avoid dealing with 11-year-olds.

I will leave this poll up for about a month or so. Take your time to decide and discuss. This affects you the readers more than me, after all.
